Bayer Giants Leverkusen climbed into the battle for the top spot in the German League after scoring a 90-93 road win at Alba Berlin. The game was close throughout the 40 minutes. Berlin led 77-73 heading into the fourth quarter, but Leverkusen’s defense stood tall and then sudden barrage of a Beckam Wyrick three-pointer followed by an Eric Taylor basket tied it at 89-89 with a minute to go. A three-chance Berlin possession was fruitless and at the other end Zack Whiting put the visitors up 2. Julius Jenkins went to the line with 8 seconds remaining, but made only 1 free throw, allowing Brendan Winters to ice the game from the lien for the Giants. Brant Bailey led Leverkusen with 20 points and 8 rebounds, while Taylor added 16 and Ty McCoy had 14.
