CSU Ploiesti recorded a thrilling success over Rapid Bucharest, 79-82, to stay atop the Romanian League table with 17-1 record. The hosts built a 28-19 advantage after 10 minutes, but then Ploiesti adjusted its defense and allowed Rapid just 8 points in the second quarter to climb within 36-30 at halftime. CSU tied it at 54-54 at the end of the third quarter. Then Adrian Blidaru scored from downtown to make it 79-81 and Levente Szijarto sealed the win from the foul line. Alexander De’Angelo led the way with 20 points and 10 steals, Reggie Elliott added 17 and Arvydas Cepulis had 15. In other games, Dinamo Bucharest destroyed CSM Leonardo Oradea 122-67 and CSU Atlassib Sibiu thrashed CS Otopeni 97-77 to stay with 16-3 record at the second place of the table. BC Targu Meste and Elba Timisioara took big wins on the road, beating, respectively, BC Targoviste, 79-92 and CSU Brasov 76-89. Meanwhile U Mobitelco Cluj edged GAZ Metan Medias 76-78 and BCMMUS Pitesti defeated BC Valcea 79-81.
