Porto Ferpinta took the big showdown in the Portuguese League this weekend by edging Ovarense Aerosoles 68-71 in Ovar on Sunday. Ovarense is still first at 15-2 but Porto is right behind at 15-2. Nuno Marcal led the winners with 22 points. Frederick Gentry added 12 while Julian Terrell had 11 and 13 rebounds for Porto. Ben Reed led Ovarense with 20 points, Graham Brown posted a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds while Cordell Henry added 10 points for the hosts, who led 50-47 after 30 minutes and still kept a 68-67 edge with 42 seconds to go. Jorge Sing stroke from downtown with 8 seconds remaining for a 68-70 Porto edge. Reed missed a three-point shot while Toree Morris sealed the win from the foul line. Vagos Lusavouga Dewalt is third at 9-8 by downing CAB Madeira 66-71 also on Sunday. In other games on Saturday, Lusitania Angra Patrimonio Mundial thrashed Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor 67-87 behind 30 points and 12 rebounds from Jamar McKnight while Casino Figueira Ginasio bested Barreirense 87-78 with 38 points and 9 rebounds from Nate Daniels.
