Erazem Lorbek - Lottomatica Roma It comes as no surprise that Montepaschi Siena keeps leading the Italian League standings with a 23-2 record, seven games ahead from Premiata Montegranaro, Lottomatica Roma and Air Avellino, second at 16-9. Montepaschi thrashed Angelico Biella 62-88 on the road on Sunday behind 16 points from Vlado Ilievski. Meanwhile, Lottomatica downed Benetton Treviso 79-64 in Rome on Sunday. Erazem Lorbek paced the winners with 17 points while Lionel Chalmers had 16 points for Benetton. Upim Bologna needed overtime to edge La Fortezza 92-95 in overtime to take the superclassic in Basket City on Sunday morning. Fortitudo improved to 13-12 while Virtus dropped to 10-15. Horace Jenkins led the winners with 27 points, including free throws to tie the game at the end of regulation, 80-80. Alan Anderson had 22 points for Virtus. Armani Jeans Milano improved to 13-12 by edging Premiata Montegranaro 78-74 at home on Saturday with 20 points from Melvin Booker, that hit 6-for-6 free throws in the final minute. In other games, Legea Scafati thrashed Siviglia Wear Teramo 95-75, Eldo Napoli topped Cimberio Varese 84-75, Pierrel Capo d'Orlando defeated Air Avellino 84-76, Solsonica Rieti bested Snaidero Udine 67-79 while Tisettanta Cantu edged Scavolini Spar Pesaro 83-80.

Montepaschi Siena kept its momentum going and improved to 23-2 by thrashing Angelico Biella 62-88 on the road on Sunday. Ilievski led the winners with 16 points. Drake Diener added 12, Ksistof Lavrinovic had 11 while Bootsy Thornton got 10 for Montepaschi, that got a 33-44 lead behind an outstanding Ilievski. Three-pointers by Romain Sato, Thornton and Shaun Stonerook broke the game open right after the break, 37-53, as Biella never recovered. Lottomatica Roma improved to 16-9 by downing Benetton Treviso 79-64 at home on Sunday. Lorbek paced the winners with 17 points while Roko Ukic added 14 for Lottomatica. Chalmers had 16 points for Benetton while Mario Austin and Matteo Soragna each added 12. Ibrahim Jaaber and Gregor Fucka shined in the second quarter to give Roma a 44-34 halftime edge. A 10-0 run that Ukic capped with a triple broke the game open, 54-34, right after the break, as Benetton never recovered.

Upim took the Bologna derby by beating La Fortezza 92-95 in overtime in Basket City on Sunday morning. Fortitudo improved to 13-12 while Virtus dropped to 10-15. Jenkins led the winners with 27 points. Kristaps Janicenoks added 19, Stefano Mancinelli had 18 while Joseph Forte got 14 and 7 assists for Fortitudo. Anderson had 22 points for Virtus, Travis Best added 19, Roberto Chiacig 16 and Guilherme Giovannoni 11. A dunk by Anderson seemed to seal the outcome for Virtus, 78-71, with less than 2 minutes to go in regularion. Jenkins and Oscar Torres stroke from downtown in a 0-7 run that tied the game, 78-78. Best stepped up with a layup that Jenkins matched with free throws for a 80-80 tie at the end of the fourth quarter. Forte had 9 quick points in overtime but Anderson stroke twice from downtown for a 91-91 tie. Free throws by Jenkins and Torres sealed the outcome down the stretch. AJ Milano improved to 13-12 by edging Premiata Montegranaro 78-74 at home on Saturday. Booker paced the winners with 20 points, Danilo Gallinari added 17 while Mindaugas Katelynas had 16 for Milano, that trailed 70-72 with 2 minutes to go. Ansu Sesay hit a jumper while Booker added 6-for-6 free throws in the final seconds to win it for Milano.
