Asvel Basket is back atop the French League standings at 16-5, with Le Mans right behind at 16-6 and Nancy third at 15-6. Asvel downed Orleans 95-89 in Lyon on Saturday. Laurent Foirest paced the winners with 24 points on 11-for-11 free throws while Chevon Troutman posted a double-double of 23 points on 10-for-11 two-pointers and 10 rebounds for Asvel. Meanwhile, Le Mans and Nancy registered respective losses, 89-80 on the road against Cholet and 89-98 at home against Gravelines. Elan Chalon survived an incredible thriller by edging Strasbourg 104-100 in triple overtime on Saturday. Chalon improved to 9-12 while Strasbourg dropped to 11-10. Darrel Mitchell led the winners with 24 points and had 9 in the third extra period. Kevin Houston and Eddie Shannon buried respective triple to force the second and third overtime, respectively, for Strasbourg. Chorale Roanne improved to 14-7 by edging Le Havre 97-92 at home on Friday behind 31 points on 7-for-10 three-pointers from a recovered Marc Salyers, while Pau-Orthez improved to 8-13 by edging Vichy 59-61 on the road on Saturday with 17 points from Antonio Graves. In other games, Hyeres-Toulon thrashed Clermont 49-69 while Paris-Levallois topped Dijon 94-84 behind 28 points and 15 rebounds from Kimani Ffriend.

Lamayn Wilson had 17 points, Uche Nsonwu added 13 and Aymeric Jeanneau 12 for Asvel, that trailed 71-72 with 9 minutes to go. Nsonwu and Edwin Jackson fueled a 10-0 run that put Asvel ahead for good, 81-72, as Foirest and Jeanneau sealed the outcome from the foul line. Chalon needed three overtimes to edge Strasbourg 104-100 at home also on Saturday. Chalon improved to 9-12 while Strasbourg dropped to 11-10. Mitchell led the winners with 24 points. John Ford and Xavier Corosine each added 20, Rowan Barrett had 19 while Bryan Bracey got 14 for Chalon. Houston led Strasbourg with 31 points and 12 rebounds. Shannon added 24 points and 9 assists, John McCord had 15 points while Aaron Pettway had 12 for the guests, that led 41-50 after 30 minutes. Ford led the hosts' comeback with a free throw by Corosine sent the game to overtime, 65-65. Barrett gave Chalon a 75-72 late in the first overtime but Houston stroke from downtown for a 75-75 tie after 45 minutes. Shannon buried a big three-pointer to send the game to a third extra period, 90-90. Mitchell had 9 points in the third overtime to seal the outcome. Le Mans dropped to 16-6 due to a 89-80 road loss against Cholet. Nando De Colo paced the winners with 29 points. Alain Koffi had 19 points for Le Mans, Raviv Limonad and Antoine Diot each added 16 while Nicolas Batum got 11 for the guests, that trailed all the way since 10-11 and did not get within striking distance in the second half.

Pape Badiane posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, Brion Rush had 12 points, Adam Hess 11 and William Soliman 10 for Roanne, that led 89-74 midway through the fourth quarter. A 0-18 run put Le Havre back ahead, 89-92, but Badiane and Salyers joined forces in the final 2 minutes to win the game for Roanne. Pau-Orthez improved to 8-13 by edging Vichy 59-61 on the road on Saturday. Graves led the winners with 17 points. Ludovic Vaty added 14 while Antywane Robinson had 12 for Pau, that led 18-30 at halftime. Graves and Vaty kept Pau ahead all the way until the final buzzer, as even when Vichy got within 59-61 with a minute to go, the hosts went scoreless down the stretch. Sluc Nancy went down to 15-6 because of a 89-98 home loss against Gravelines. Stephen Brun led Gravelines with 25 points. Jeff Greer had 18 points for Nancy, Pape Amagou and Zab Dowdell each added 17, Michael Bauer got 16 and Cyril Julian 12 for the hosts, that were without Ricardo Greer. Nancy trailed 61-70 after 30 minutes and did not fully recovere in the final period.
