Ovarense Aerosoles survived a tough battle and stayed atop the Portuguese League standings with a 16-2 record by edging Lusitania Angra Patrimonio Mundial 76-77 on the road on Saturday with a game-winning triple by Gregory Stempin, who also led the winners with 18 points. Graham Brown added 15, Elvis Evora had 13 while Cordell Henry got 12 for Ovarense, that underwent a four-point deficit in the final 17 seconds to win the game with a huge triple by Stempin from way downtown. Porto Ferpinta rallied from a double-digit deficit to down Barreirense 82-83 on the road also on Saturday behind 21 points from Julian Terrell. Frederick Gentry added 18, Paulo Cunha had 14 and Nuno Marcal 13. E.J. Drayton had 20 points for Belenenses, that led 76-65 with less than 6 minutes to go. Cunha, Terrell and Marcal combined for all points in a 0-15 run that sealed the outcome. In other games, Belenenses Hyundai Lusifor topped Vagos Lusavouga Dewalt 85-94 on Sunday while CAB Madeira downed Casino Figueira Ginasio 82-89 behind 18 points from Jose Costa. Nate Daniels led Ginasio with 42 points.
