Dutch League, Regular Season, Game 36: March 11-13, 2008
The top two teams in the Dutch League standings lost in midweek action, but held onto their positions. Matrixx Magixx defeated first placed MyGuide Amsterdam 87-81. Amsterdam fell behind early and was unable to dig itself out of the hole, despite 18 points and 8 rebounds from Mohamed Abukar. Amsterdam dropped to 26-6. Alhaji Mohammed and Tyler Smith scored 28 and 23 points, respectively, to lead third-placed Matrixx Magixx, which won its 20th game. Meanwhile Aris Friesland used a furious fourth-quarter charge to upset the West Brabant Giants 83-90. Dillion Sneed shined with 31 points, 9 boards and 5 steals for Aris, topping Andre Harris’s 26 points and 13 boards. Defending champion EiffelTowers Den Bosch defeated Landstede 79-65 as Darrel Tucker netted 18. Travis Young and Robert Owens added 12 points apiece and Brandon Griffin posted 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. In other games, Upstairs Weert downed the Rotterdam Challengers 77-70 thanks to Ashley Champion’s 31 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists, while Zorg & Zekerheid outgunned the Hanzevast Capitals 109-106. David Chiotti recorded his 16th double-double of the season with 25 points and 10 rebounds and Stephen Ross also scored 25 to lead Zorg & Zekerheid. The Capitals got 24 apiece from Dwayne Archbold and Alton Mason.
