Greek League, Regular Season, Game 20: March 15-16, 2008
Giorgos Printezis - Olympiacos Panathinakos and Olympiacos rolled on in Matchday 20 of the Greek League to get ready for their upcoming do-or-die Euroleague games, while Aris was sunned on the road in Larissa. The defending champs did not have to put out a full effort in order to crush 105-61 Kolossos Rhodes at the Athens Indoor Olympic Sports Hall as Stratos Perperoglou had a brilliant performance with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Olympiacos finished the job early, handling visiting Egaleo a 76-63 defeat as Giorgos Printezis posted 19 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Aris was upset at the hands of host AE Larissa, losing 98-104 after overtime. Nikos Papanikolopoulos had 23 points for the winners, while Jeremiah Massey led six visitors in double figures with 18 points. Panellinios was the big winner of the Athens derby against Panionios, 76-74, to improve its chances for the regular season’s fourth spot over its opponent. Anthony Grundy led the way with 22 points and 5 assists, whereas Giannis Kalampokis bagged 18 points for Panionios in defeat. AGO Rethymnon got 53 points from the trio of Nenad Pistoljevic, Stefan Nadjfeji and David Young, who also scored the winning basket, to beat AEK 72-70 in Crete and renew its hopes to avoid relegation. Alexis Kyritsis netted 21 points for the visitors. Maroussi dictated the tempo over Olympia Larissa to win 82-69 as Jarod Stevenson scored 16 points and Andreas Glyniadakis posted 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. PAOK held off mighty Olympiada Patras 70-64 behind 16 points coming from Dimitris Verginis and Reda Rhalimi.

Getting ready for its win-or-die game against Partizan in Belgrade for the Euroleague last top16 game, Panathinaikos stepped on the gas early to run away against visiting Kolossos Rhodes, 105-61. Stratos Perperoglou filled the stat sheet with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals, Sani Becirovic and Kennedy Winston scored 15 points each, Sarunas Jasikevicius had 11 with 4 assists and Vassilis Spanoulis added 10 points. Danilo Pinnock was the only guest to score in double figures reaching 19 points for AGOR. Olympiacos built a 50-31 halftime difference and held on for the final 76-63 win over Egaleo at Peace and Friendship Stadium. Coach Panagiotis Giannakis split playing time to prepare his team for the upcoming no-tomorrow game against Real Madrid. Giorgos Printezis had a magnificent evening of 19 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists, Kostas Vassiliadis posted 13 points and 7 boards, while Marc Jackson added 11 points. Makis Nikolaidis scored 19 points for Egaleo in defeat.

Aris was chasing AE Larissa and used a good 15-28 fourth quarter to force overtime. But, that did not prove enough as Larissa finally celebrated an impressive 104-98 win. Larissa got prime scoring performances from four players: Nikos Papanikolopoulos netted 23, Dragan Ceranic scored 21, David Teague finished with 20 and Billy Keys added 19. Aris had six players in double figures, Jeremiah Massey leading them with 18. Dimitris Tsaldaris, Darius Washington, Bracey Wright, Rayshawn Terry, Hanno Mottola had 16, 15, 14, 14, and 10 points respectively. Panellinios and Panionios offered were involved in a back-and-forth battle until the hosts managed to build a deciding 11-point run late in the final quarter in order to seal the 76-74 win, which offers them the advantage in the hunt for the regular season’s fourth place. Anthony Grundy gunned 22 points, Djuro Ostojic contributed 16, Jurica Golemac added 14 and Tre Kelley had 12. Panionios had offensive pluralism, too; Giannis Kalampokis had 18, Lonny Baxter and Aleksandar Capin 14 each and Brad Newley scored 12 in defeat.
