Besiktas Cola Turka outclassed Banvit of Bandirma 108-89 at Akatlar Cola Turka Arena to remain on top of the Turkish League standings with 19 wins from 24 games. Kaya Peker led Besiktas with a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds as the Istanbul club maintained a one-victory lead over Efes Pilsen, also a weekend winner. Efes came from behind to beat Antalya Buyuksehir Belediyesi 77-82 as Ermal Kuqo posted 20 points and 6 rebounds. Meanwhile three of the teams entering the weekend tied for third place added wins: Fenerbahce Ulker pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Darussafaka 78-90 thanks to Omer Asik’s 16 points and 11 rebounds; Galatasaray Cafe Crown held off Kepez Belediye’s late charge to win 76-72 as Dee Brown led the way with 14 points; and Turk Telekom outlasted Pinar Karsiyaka 93-96 on Khalid El Amin’s free throws with 2 seconds remaining. El Amin finished with had 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for Telekom. In other games, Mersin Buyuksehir Belediyesi defeated TTNet Beykoz 75-59, CASA TED Kolejliler downed Mutlu Aku Selcuk University 83-78 and Oyak Renault topped Alpella 60-65.

Besiktas dominated the first quarter through Predrag Drobnjak and Kaya Peker to lead 27-18. Points by Sinan Guler, Rick Apodaca, Preston Shumpert and Peker increased the gap to 61-32 by halftime and essentially ensured the outcome. However when Besiktas let up, Banvit forced the game with Joseph Crispin, Donnell Harvey and Kenny Adeleke to reduce the big gap to 80-64 at the end of the third period. But Cevher Ozer joined the others in the last quarter along with Guler to lead Besiktas to a comfortable win. Peker led Besiktas with a double-double of 26 points and 13 rebounds, Drobnjak had 19 points plus 8 rebounds, Apodaca scored 14 points and dished 6 assists, Shumpert wound up with 15 points and both Christian Dalmau and Guler added 10 each. Adeleke scored 30 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in defeat, Harvey had 19 points plus 13 rebounds and Crispin had 20 points for Banvit.
Efes Pilsen came from behind to beat Antalya Buyuksehir Belediyesi 77-82 thanks to a last period storm by Mustafa Abi and Scoonie Penn. Antalya led early, winning the first period 26-20 through points from Ersin Gorkem and Marcus Douthit and taking advantage of Efes’s turnovers. The visitors leveled the game in the second period behind Ermal Kuqo and Andre Hutson’s points inside and took their first lead shortly before halftime, although by the break Antalya knotted it at 41-41. Antalya was better in defense in the third quarter as the home team had Douthit, Cartier Martin and Ricardo Marsh in charge to move into the last quarter ahead 59-55. Antalya increased the lead to 8 points after three minutes, but back-to-back Mustafa Abi triples plus another one from Penn brought Efes within 69-68. A Hutson layup, assisted by Penn, with 1:27 remaining, helped Efes take a 73-75 lead, which the visitors protected it until the end of the game. Kuqo led Efes with 20 points and 6 rebounds, Abi had 17 points and 8 rebounds, Penn scored 16 plus and dished 6 assists and Hutson added 15. Douthit had 17 points plus 10 rebounds for Antalya, Marsh scored 15, Martin 14 and Gorkem added 13 for Antalya.
Fenerbahce Ulker showed its real face in the last quarter against relegation threatened Darussafaka and beat its city rivals 78-90 on the road at Ayhan Sahenk Arena. After a 22-22 first quarter, Fenerbahce had Semih Erden, Omer Asik and James White working in the paint to take the lead at the halftime, 36-37. Fener wasn’t able to snatch the win in the third quarter, either. The home team fought with Thomas Guinn, Lamar Johnson and Eric Chatfield and stayed in the game, but Fenerbahce also led after the third quarter, 54-55. Emir Preldzic, Damir Kaan and Willie Solomon hit triples at the beginning of the last period to give Fener a 59-69 lead, which the visitors kept until the end of the game. Omer Asik led Fenerbahce with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, Preldzic and Omer Onan added 13 points apiece, Solomon recorded 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Oguz Savas added 10 points. Johnson scored 27 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists and both Chatfield and Guinn scored 12 for Darussafaka.
Galatasaray Cafe Crown ended its two-game losing streak by beating Kepez Belediyesi of Antalya 76-72 at Ayhan Sahenk Arena. It was the home team that had the fast start and took the early lead. Lorenzo Gordon and Tomislav Ruzic balanced the game inside the paint, but Charles Gaines’s last second layup ended the first quarter at 23-18. Cuneyt Erden, Robert Hite and Dee Brown took charge in the second period for the struggling home team and Galatasaray led the first half 37-29. Kepez started the second half more aggressive on defense and made it hard to score for the home team. Midway through the period, Keith Simmons completed a 0-9 spurts for the visitors and Kepez had its first lead in the game, 46-47. Gaines once again scored in the last second to lead Galatasaray a 53-51 advantage at the end of the third period. Tufan Ersoz and Brown extended the Galatasaray lead to 11 points three-and-a-half minutes before the end. Guven Esmer and Ruzic scored and Gordon followed for Kepez to cut the difference to 2 points with 6 seconds to go, but Cuneyt Erden scored both free throws to seal the win. Brown scored 14 points, Ersoz had 13, Huseyin Besok 11 and Chris Owens and Cuneyt Erden added 10 each for the winning team. Turk Telekom defeated Pinar Karsiyaka 93-96 in Karsiyaka in an exciting game to refresh its hopes of moving into the top four. Telekom led by 1 point after each period (21-22, 40-41, 70-71) and had Khalid El Amin at the foul line with 2 seconds remaining to seal the win in Izmir. El Amin had 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for Telekom while Erwin Dudley had 21 points plus 10 rebounds, Bekir Yarangume scored 14 points. Robert Hosley scored 27 points and grabbed 18 rebounds for Karsiyaka, Geno Carlisle also scored 28 points and Sean Marshall added 20.
