CSKA Moscow stayed atop the Russian League standings and improved to 21-1 with just 2 games to go in the regular season by thrashing Spartak Primorie 97-71 at home on Saturday. Victor Khryapa paced the winners with 17 points, Zakhar Pashutin, Ramunas Siskauskas and J. R. Holden each added 12 while Matjaz Smodis got 11 for CSKA, that led 55-38 at halftime and did not find any trouble to add a big win. Khimki is second at 20-2 by downing Samara 57-90 on the road on Sunday. Kelly McCarty and Maciej Lampe led the winners with 13 points apiece while Daniel Wing had 12 for Khimki, that led 33-48 at halftime and boosted its margin to 39-70 after 30 minutes to seal the outcome. Triumph Lyubertsy took the biggest showdown in the Russian League this weekend by edging Dynamo Moscow 69-70 on the road on Saturday. Triumph improved to 15-6 while Dynamo dropped to 14-7. Terrell Lyday led the winners with 17 points, Mire Chatman added 14, Uros Slokar had 11 while Ognjen Askrabic got 10 for Triumph. Henry Domercant had 18 points for Dynamo, Travis Hansen added 17 while Sergey Monya and Milos Vujanic each got 10. Dynamo led 41-24 late in the first half but Triumph rallied late in the game to get a 66-68 edge. Domercant buried a triple with 5.5 seconds to go but Chatman won the game for Triumph with a driving layup. Unics Kazan moved up to 14-7 by thrashing Spartak St. Petersburg 74-91 on the road on Sunday behind 20 points from Marko Tusek. Darjus Lavrinovic added 14, Tariq Kirksay had 12 and Viktor Keyru 10 for Unics, that broke the game in the third quarter and never looked back. In other games, Ural Great edged Universitet Surgut 102-104 in overtime on Sunday.
