Uros Tripkovic - Partizan Igokea The 2007-08 Adriatic League regular season came to an end this weekend and the top eight teams - Partizan Igokea, Zadar, Hemofarm Stada, Crvena Zvezda, Union Olimpija, Buducnost, FMP and Cibona - advanced to the best-of-three quarterfinal playoffs. Partizan finished first at 24-2 by beating Split CO in Belgrade on Sunday behind 28 points from Uros Tripkovic. Hemofarm Stada was third at 16-10 by edging Vojvodina Srbijagas 59-66 in Novi Sad on Saturday with 18 points from Rawle Marshall. Meanwhile, Tadija Dragicevic had 25 points to lead Zvezda to a 74-86 road win in Zadar to make his team finish fourth at 16-10. FMP was finally seventh by edging Union Olimpija 92-90 in Zeleznik on Saturday. Dragan Labovic led the winners with 24 points, Zoran Erceg added 21 while Jasmin Hukic led Olimpija with 27 points. Buducnost ended sixth also at 15-11 by topping Geoplin Slovan 75-89 on Saturday while Cibona was eight also with a 15-11 record by downing Helios Domzale 74-88 on the road on Wednesday. The quarterfinal playoffs start this weekend with the following matchups: Partizan vs. Cibona, Zadar vs. FMP, Hemofarm vs. Buducnost and Zvezda vs. Olimpija.

Partizan Igokea rounded an almost perfect regular season and finished it with a 24-2 record by beating Split CO in Belgrade on Sunday. Tripkovic led the winners with 28 points while Dejan Borovnjak added 12 for Partizan, that led 63-60 with less than 4 minutes to go. Three-pointers by Petar Bozic, Marko Durkovic and Tripkovic allowed Partizan to seal the outcome down the stretch. Hemofarm Stada finished third at 16-10 by edging Vojvodina Srbijagas 59-66 in Novi Sad on Saturday. Marshall had 18 points for Hemofarm, that trailed 50-48 late in the third quarter. Marshall and Nebojsa Joksimovic shined in the fourth quarter to lead Hemofarm to an important win. Crvena Zvezda finished the regular season fourth also with a 16-10 record by topping Zadar 74-86 in Croatia on Saturday. Dragicevic paced the winners with 25 points. Eldemin Kikanovic added 19 while Omar Cook posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 assists for Zvezda. Todor Gecevski had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Zadar, that finished second at 18-8. Pankracije Barac and Corey Brewer each added 11 points while Juby Johnson and Andrej Stimac had 10 apiece for Zadar, that led 66-65 with 8 minutes to go. Dragicevic and Kikanovic combined for 17 points in those final 8 minutes to make Zvezda escape with a big road win.

FMP finished seventh by edging Union Olimpija 92-90 in Zeleznik on Saturday. Both teams were tied at 15-11 at the end of the regular season, but Union Olimpija was fifth due to its advantage in a four-way tie also involving Cibona and Buducnost. Labovic led the winners with 24 points, Erceg added 21 while Nemanja Protic had 19 for FMP. Hukic led Olimpija with 27 points, Ronell Taylor added 17, Goran Dragic had 16 while Chris Booker got 12 for Olimpija, whose last lead came at 76-77. Erceg led a 9-2 run that put FMP ahead for good, 85-79. Even with that, Olimpija had the chance to win the game in the final possession, but Hukic missed from downtown at the buzzer. Buducnost was sixth also at 15-11 by topping Geoplin Slovan 75-89 on Saturday. Vladimir Micov led the winners with 19 points. Nemanja Gordic added 18, Nikola Otasevic had 16 while Vladimir Dasic got 11 for Buducnost, that led 61-75 after three quarters and did not find much trouble to add a critical win. Cibona was eight also with a 15-11 record by downing Helios Domzale 74-88 on the road on Wednesday. Barisa Krasic had 14 points to lead Cibona, Damir Mulaomerovic added 13 and Chris Warren 12. Cibona broke the game early in the second half, as it got a 59-77 margin after 30 minutes and cruised to a big win.
