CSKA Moscow became the Russian League regular season champion and improved to 22-1 by topping Triumph Lyubertsy 71-81 on the road on Thursday. Matjaz Smodis led the winners with 22 points. J.R. Holden added 18 while David Andersen, Victor Khryapa and Ramunas Siskauskas each had 10 for CSKA. Terrell Lyday had 17 points for Triumph. Ognjen Askrabic added 15, Sergey Toporov had 14 and Mire Chatman 12 for the hosts, that led 38-32 at halftime. Holden led a 2-17 run that Trajan Langdon capped with free throws to put CSKA ahead for good, 40-49. Khryapa, Andersen and Smodis allowed the guests to keep a safe edge in the fourth quarter. Unics improved to 15-7 and now ties with Triumph for third place by thrashing SibirTelekom 81-106 in Novosibirsk on Saturday. Sergei Chikalkin paced the winners with 24 points. Darjus Lavrinovic added 15, Nikita Kourbanov and Tariq Kirksay had 12 apiece while Dimitriy Sokolov and Marko Tusek each got 10 for Unics, that led 32-60 at halftime and never looked back. Dynamo is fifth at 15-8 due to a 85-75 road loss agaisnt Spartak Primorie on Thursday. J.R. Bremer led the winners with 25 points. Henry Domercant had 24 points for Dynamo, Robertas Javtokas added 14 and Milos Vujanic 13. Dynamo led 60-66 after 30 minutes but a 18-4 run allowed Spartak to win the game. Dynamo bounced back with a 59-91 road win against Enisey Krasnoyarsk on Saturday. Javtokas, Vujanic, Yaroslav Korolev and Yuri Vasilyev each had 13 points for Dynamo while Travis Hansen got 10. In other games, Lokomotiv-Rostov topped Spartak St. Petersburg 86-73 while Samara needed overtime to edge Universitet Surgut 98-104.
