Erazem Lorbek - Lottomatica Roma Despite already being the Italian League regular season champion, Montepaschi Siena left no doubt about its power and improved to 27-2 by thrashing Scavolini Spar Pesaro 105-74 on Friday. Romain Sato led as many as 7 Montepaschi players in double digits with 19 points. Lottomatica Roma is second now with a 20-9 record by topping Upim Bologna 69-80 on the road on Sunday morning. Erazem Lorbek paced the winners with 25 points and 9 rebounds, leading a 2-14 run that allowed Roma to win the game in the final 5 minutes. Kristaps Janicenoks had 22 points for Upim. Benetton Treviso improved to 12-17 by beating Eldo Napoli 83-71 at home on Sunday. Mario Austin paced the winners with 25 points on 10-for-15 two-pointers and 9 rebounds while Lionel Chalmers added 19 points for Benetton. La Fortezza Bologna dropped to 10-18 due to a 83-81 road loss against Solsonica Rieti while Armani Jeans Milano went down to 15-14 because of a 81-87 home loss against Angelico Biella. In other games, Air Avellino thrashed Legea Scafati 103-84, Premiata Montegranaro edged Pierrel Capo d'Orlando 87-84 on a game-winning three-point play by Kiwane Garris, Siviglia Wear Teramo beat Snaidero Udine 80-87 and Tisettanta Cantu topped Cimberio Varese 76-83.

Montepaschi Siena showed it is ready for the Euroleague Quarterfinal Playoffs and improved to 27-2 by thrashing Scavolini Spar Pesaro 105-74 on Friday, also taking revenge from its cup loss earlier in the season. Sato led 7 Montepaschi players in double digits with 19 points. Terrell McIntyre added 15, Ben Eze had 13, Ksistof Lavrinovic got 12, Vlado Ilievski contributed 11 while Marco Carrareto and Bootsy Thornton each scored 10 points for the winners, that led 50-40 at halftime. Montepaschi improved its defense after the break, while Sato, Thornton, Lavrinovic and Ilievski allowed the hosts to break the game open, 79-52, after three quarters, as Scavolini never recovered. Lottomatica Roma stayed second with a 20-9 record by topping Upim Bologna 69-80 on the road on Sunday morning. Lorbek paced the winners with 25 points and 9 rebounds. Jon Stefansson added 11 points for Roma. Janicenoks had 22 points for Upim, Joseph Forte added 18 while Oscar Torres got 10 for Fortitudo, that dropped to 14-15. Roma led 36-41 at halftime, while Roberto Gabini, an outstanding Lorbek and a three-pointer by Stefansson allowed the guests to get a 54-64 edge after three quarters. A 13-2 run that Dalibor Bagaric capped with a layup put Upim briefly ahead, 67-66. Lorbek stroke twice from downtown in a final 2-15 that allowed Lottomatica to escape with a win.

Benetton Treviso moved up to 12-17 by beating Eldo Napoli 83-71 at home on Sunday. Austin paced the winners with 25 points on 10-for-15 two-pointers and 9 rebounds. Chalmers added 19 points while Matteo Soragna and Marco Mordente each had 11 for Benetton. Jumaine Jones had 25 points and 9 rebounds for Napoli, that overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to get a 57-62 edge after 30 minutes. Austin, Chalmers and Mordente stepped up to give Benetton a 73-67 lead with 3 minutes to go. Mordente and Soragna sealed the outcome from the foul line in the final 2 minutes. La Fortezza Bologna dropped to 10-18 due to a 83-81 road loss against Solsonica Rieti. Patricio Prato and Morris Finley paced the winners each with 19 points. Travis Best and Alan Anderson each had 18 points for Virtus while Massimo Bulleri added 16. Virtus rallied from a double-digit deficit to get within 81-79 in the final minute. Dimitri Lauwers committed a critical turnover that allowed Finley to seal the outcome with free throws. Armani Jeans Milano went down to 15-14 because of a 81-87 home loss against Angelico Biella. B.J. Elder paced Biella with 22 points. Dusan Vukcevic led Milano with 17 points, Melvin Booker added 15, Danilo Gallinari 14, Ansu Sesay 12 and Casey Shaw 10. Back-to-back triples by Vukcevic gave Milano a 33-20 lead early in the second quarter, while a ljumper by Booker kept Milano ahead, 77-68, with 6 minutes to go. Elder and Brandon Hunter fueled a game-changing 2-14 run that gave Biella a 79-82 edge. Hunter and Daniele Cinciarini allowed the guests to escape with a major road win.
