Qyntel Woods - Olympiacos Easy wins were recorded for the so Greek League giants Olympiacos and Panathinaikos over the weekend after their Greek Cup Final clash that went to the Greens on Wednesday. Panathinaikos crushed Olympiada Patras 108-72 as Nikos Chatzivrettas led five Greens’ scorers in double digits with 17 points, while Olympiacos did not face the slightest difficulty to compress AEK 82-53 behind 16 points from Quintel Woods in his return to the Greek League. Third-place Aris TT Bank slumped to another defeat as Panellinios sailed to a big 91-73 home victory to become a serious contender to climb into third place. Anthony Grundy exploded for 35 points and 6 assists and Tre Kelley added 17 points for Panellinios, which had scored 54 points by halftime. Panionios escaped from Thessaloniki with a solid 66-77 win over PAOK. Two former PAOK players, Giannis Kalampokis and Giannis Giannoulis led the way for the guests: Kalampokis recorded 16 points and 9 rebounds , while Giannoulis totaled 15 points and 5 assists. Olympia Larissa beat Kolossos Rhodes 76-66 behind good performances by the trio of Giorgos Tsiaras, Mirza Kurtovic and Michael King who scored 18, 17, and 16 points respectively, while AGO Rethymnon held off AE Larissa 68-63 behind 16 points from Stefan Nadjfeji. Maroussi beat Egaleo 96-82 as Kostas Kaimakoglou netted 17 points, while Anthony Goldwire posted 19 points for the guests in defeat.

At OAKA Sports Hall, the difference in quality between recently Cup crowned Panathinaikos and ready to get relegated Olympiada Patras was obvious. The hosts made an incredible 29 of 35 two-point shots to sail to an easy 108-72 win. Every Panathinaikos player got on the scoreboard with Nikos Chatzivrettas leading the way with 17 points. Mike Batiste and Kostas Tsartsaris added 13 points apiece, while Vassilis Spanoulis and Fragiskos Alvertis had 12 each. Nikos Pettas led Olympiada with 15 points.

Olympiacos bounced back from its Cup final defeat and got ready for its Euroleague Quarterfinal Playoff matchup against CSKA Moscow by easily beating AEK 82-53. Quintel Woods returned to domestic action after the Reds released Marc Jackson to lead the scoring with 16 points. Kostas Vassiliadis bagged 15 points, while Lynn Greer and Jake Tsakalidis contributed 11 each. Alexis Kyritsis had 14 for the visitors in defeat. Olympiacos dictated the tempo from the very beginning to build a 44-24 margin after two quarters as AEK never showed up on court. Bad news came for the Reds when Giorgos Printezis had to leave due to a slight injury, however it will not prevent him from playing against CSKA in Moscow. Arvydas Macijauskas was not in the 12-man squad, but he will also be ready for the Euroleague quarterfinals.

Aris TT Bank slumped to another defeat as Panellinios sailed to a big 91-73 home victory to become a serious contender to overtake Aris for the third spot. Anthony Grundy exploded for 35 points and 6 assists, Tre Kelley added 17 points and Pantelis Papaioakim contributed 13 points and 6 rebounds for Panellinios which had scored 54 points by halftime. Bracey Wright posted 22 points on 4 three-pointers; Savvas Iliadis had 14 points and Jeremiah bagged 14 points, 11 boards, and 4 blocks for Aris.
