Player to Watch: Arriel McDonald
|
Few men meet the description “floor general” quite like Arriel McDonald, the veteran playmaker from Akasvayu Girona. McDonald, 36, brings a rich resume with him to the floor, including four Final Four appearances and two continental titles, with the savvy guard earning the MVP award both times. Through the years McDonald, who has spent time with some of Europe’s top teams like Olimpija Ljubljana, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Panathinaikos and Dynamo Moscow, has specialized in two things: Making those around him better and winning. And not only has he accomplished that at every stop – once racking up eight domestic championships and seven cups in an eight-year period – he does it in every way possible, from his passing and shooting abilities to his hustle and leadership. This season, McDonald’s second at Akasvayu, he led the team in three-point shooting, was second in scoring and third in both assists and steals. He always seems to rise to the occasion for big games, is fearless with the game on the line and determined find ways to win by any means necessary. For those reasons and more, Arriel McDonald is always a player to watch when Akasvayu Girona takes the court.
