Russian League, Game 26: April 4-6, 2008

Khimki took the big showdown in the Russian League this week and improved to 21-2, just behind one win from regular season champion CSKA Moscow, by downing Dynamo Moscow 94-87 at home on Friday. Dan Ewing and Maciej Lampe paced the winners each with 19 points. Anton Ponkrashov added 17 while Clay Tucker had 13 for Khimki. Travis Hansen had 18 points for Dynamo, that finished the regular season with a 15-9 record. Sergei Monya added 16, Robertas Javtokas had 14 on 7-for-7 two-pointers while Milos Vujanic got 11 for the guests. Ponkrashov had 8 points in a 15-3 run that allowed Khimki to get a 29-17 lead after 10 minutes. Khimki dominated the game since that moment, keeping a safe lead all the way until the final buzzer. In other games, Lokomotiv Rostov topped Universitet Surgut 85-71 while Spartak Primorje beat CSK VVS-Samara 81-75 behind 24 points from J.R. Bremer.
