French League, regular season, Game 25: April 11-12, 2008
Marc Salyers - Chorale Roanne SLUC Nancy made it a bit more interesting at the top of the French League standings by dumping league-leading Le Mans 84-62 on Friday. Nancy outscored Le Mans 28-10 in the third period to take control of the game and improve to 17-8 – just two wins behind Le Mans with a game at hand. Pape Philippe Amagou scored 14 and Victor Samnick added a double-double to lead Nancy to victory. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne remains tied with Nancy for second place after beating Cholet 77-86 as Laurent Foirest and Robert Conley scored 18 points apiece. Chorale Roanne fell from the three-way tie for second after losing 72-65 at Vichy. Curtis Sumpter came off the bench to lead Vichy with 18. Strasbourg snapped a five-game losing streak by topping Gravelines-Dunkerque 76-72 as Sacha Giffa scored 13. Chalon/Saone topped Pau-Orthez 78-68 behind 21 points from John Ford. Dijon recorded the most points over the weekend, 97, as it beat Hyeres-Toulon by 11. In other games, Le Havre bested Clermont 78-86 as Marcellus Sommerville registered 22 points for the winners, while Paris-Levallois edged Orleans 66-62.

Pape Philippe Amagou scored 14, Jeff Greer added 13, Zabian Dowdell and Cyril Julian had 12 each and Victor Samnick recorded 11 points and 12 rebounds to lead Nancy. Philip Ricci paced Le Mans with 22 points and Nicolas Batum added 10 in defeat. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne remains tied with Nancy for second place after beating Cholet 77-86 as Laurent Foirest and Robert Conley scored 18 points apiece. ASVEL used offense – scoring 28 second-period points – and defense – holding Cholet to 12 third-quarter points – to build a comfortable lead and coast to victory. Uche Nsonwu added 14 points and 10 rebounds and Lamayn Wilson also score 14 for the winners. Nando De Colo finished with 19 points and 5 assists and young Rodrigue Beaubois added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in defeat.

Vichy moved within one win of fourth placed Chorale Roanne with a 72-65 victory. The defending champs held a 5-point halftime lead, but ichy, which scored 30 points in the entire first half, had 30 as well in the third quarter to take a double-digit lead. Curtis Sumpter paced Vichy with 18 points and Jimmal Baal added 14. Marc Salyers carried Roanne with 26 points and 9 rebounds, but got little help from his friends. Strasbourg snapped a five-game losing streak by topping Gravelines-Dunkerque 76-72 as Sacha Giffa scored 13. Aaron Pettway added 12 points and 7 rebounds and Afik Nissim and Eddie Shannon also scored 12. Vincent Grier led Gravelines with 17. Chalon/Saone topped Pau-Orthez 78-68 behind 21 points and 7 boards from John Ford. Chalon took control early with a 27-11 opening period and never let up. Darrel Mitchel scored 13 and Jermaine Guice had 11 for the winners. Ludovic Vaty recorded a career-high 25 points and had 7 rebounds, while Shaun Fein added 21 for Pau-Orthez.
