Polish League Quarterfinals, Games 3-4: April 19-21, 2008

Prokom Trefl Sopot became the first team to advance to the Polish League semifinals by registering a 3-1 win in its best-of-five quarterfinal playoffs series against ASZ Koszalin. Prokom registered a 76-62 loss in Game 3 on Saturday. George Reese paced the winners with 25 points while D.J. Thompson added 20. Milan Gurovic had 28 points for Prokom while Filip Dylewicz added 12. Things changed in Game 4, however, as Prokom reached the semifinals with a massive 66-91 road win in Game 4. Milan Gurovic sank 8-for-11 triples on his way to 33 points. Pape Sow added 14 while Donatas Slanina had 12 for Prokom, that trailed 50-41 at halftime but used defense and an unstoppable Gurovic to seal the win long before the final buzzer. Slask took a 2-1 lead in its series by topping Atlas Stal Ostrow 63-71 on the road in Game 3 on Sunday. Rashid Atkins and Jared Homan led the winners each with 17 points while Oliver Stevic added 13 for Slask, that led 54-61 after 30 minutes and managed to escape with a solid road win. Anwil Wloclawek lost the chance to sweep the series and now leads 2-1 despite a 78-72 road loss against Polpak Swiecie. Nikola Lepojevic led Polpak with 20 points. Andrzej Pluta had 20 points for Anwil, Zbigniew Bialek added 14, Lukasz Koszarek got 11 and Alex Dunn 10. Action resumes tomorrow with PGE Turow visiting Kotwica Kolobrzeg in Game 3 and with a chance for both Slask and Anwil to advance to the semifinals in Game 4.
