Serbian League, second phase, Game 8: May 3, 2008

FMP took the big showdown in the Serbian League this weekend by edging Partizan Igokea 71-69 in Zeleznik on Saturday. FMP leads the standings with a 6-1 record while Partizan dropped to 5-1. Zoran Erceg paced the winners with 27 points on 7-for-9 two-pointers. Predrag Samardziski added 16 on 7-for-8 two-pointers against his former team while Bojan Krstovic added 15 for FMP. Nikola Pekovic led Partizan with 19 points in 13-for-14 free throws. Novica Velickovic added 14 while Dusan Kecman and Milt Palacio each had 10 for the guests, that led 48-57 after 30 minutes. A 14-0 run that Erceg capped with a triple put the hosts ahead, 68-66, with less than 2 minutes to go and FMP managed to escape with an important win. Hemofarm Stada went up to 5-3 by thrashing Vojvodina Srbijagas 71-50 in Vrsac also on Saturday behind 16 points from Vladan Vukosavljevic. Nebojsa Joksimovic added 13, Rawle Marshall had 12 while Stefan Markovic got 10 for Hemofarm, that already led 65-43 after 30 minutes. Crvena Zvezda improved to 6-2 by downing Vizura 89-72 in Belgrade also on Saturday. Boris Bakic led the way for Zvezda with 23 points. Mladjen Sljivancanin added 16, Miroslac Raicevic had 13, Omar Cook 11 and Elmedin Kikanovic 10 for the winners. In other games, Lions downed Borac Cacak 75-90 behind 29 points from Vladislav Dragojlovic.
