Latvian League Quarterfinals, Game 2: April 29-30, 2008
Justin Love - BK Ventspils ASK Riga, Ventspils, VEF and Barons /LMT advanced to the Latvian League semifinals by sweeping their respective best-of-three quarterfinal series. Defending champion ASK Riga edged Liepaja 80-81 on the road on Tuesday. Dwayne Broyles paced the winners with 25 points. Gatis Jahovics added 17, Smiljan Pavic had 12 while Curtis Millage got 11 for ASK, that trailed 58-56 after 30 minutes. Both teams entered the final minute with a 79-79 tie but Broyles won it for ASK. Ventspils had less troubles to thrash his farmyard team Ventspils augstskola 65-90. Pavels Veselovs paced the winners with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Martins Skirmants and Akselis Vairogs each added 14 points while Justin Love had 10 in an easy win for Ventspils. Barons downed Zemgale 62-81 behind 15 points from Armands Skele and 14 points each from Joao Paulo Batista and Demetrius Alexander. Last but not least, VEF edged Valmiera 79-82 with 22 points from Edgars Jeromanovs.
