Bulgarian League Semifinals, Game 3: May 9, 2008

Lukoil Academic and Balkan stormed into the Bulgarian League finals, as both teams swept their respective best-of-five semifinal series against Spartak Pleven and Levski. Defending Bulgarian League champion Lukoil did not find much trouble to thrash Spartak Pleven 78-98 on the road in Game 3 on Friday. As such, Lukoil stays as the heavy favourite to win its sixth consecutive Bulgarian League title. Pero Antic led the winners with 27 points on 4-for-6 three-pointers and 8 rebounds in just 26 minutes. Todor Stoykov and Larry O'Bannon each added 18 points while Nenad Canak had 17 for Lukoil, that led 42-56 at halftime and did not find much trouble to cruise to a well-deserved win. Sasa Topchov had 25 points on 11-for-12 two-pointers for Spartak. Meanwhile, Balkan topped Levski 78-71 to advance to its first league final since it last won the title in 1989. Dwayne Morton paced the winners with 24 points, Ivan Lilov added 21, Atanas Radev had 15 while Pavle Boljkovac got 12 for Balkan. Asen Velikov had 25 points for Levski, that led 37-44 at halftime. Balkan rolled in the third quarter and managed to seal the outcome minutes before the final buzzer.
