Swiss League Playoffs, Semifinals, Game 5: May 10, 2008
The Lugano Tigers came from behind to beat the Birstal Starwings 74-68 in Game 5 of the Swiss League semifinals on Saturday to book a date with defending champion Olympic Fribourg in the finals, which start on Tuesday. With 62 seconds left in the match and the Tigers leading 70-68, Sheray Thomas missed two consecutive shots for the guests, then Dusan Mladjan extended the cushion to 4 points before Dereck Stockalper fixed the final score. The Starwings led 28-39 after 17 minutes, before the hosts came back to tie the game at 54-54 at the end of the third quarter. Jo Jo Garcia was the main contributor for Lugano with 20 points and Mladjan added 14, while Jarred McCurry nailed 21 for the guests.
