German League, Regular Season, Game 34: May 10, 2008
Chad Prewitt - Artland DragonsThe German League regular season came to a close on Saturday and the four quarterfinal matchups are now set. Alba Berlin, which clinched the top spot last week, will face eighth-placed Eisbaren Bremerhaven, German Cup winner Artland Dragons take on Telekom Baskets Bonn, Bayer Giants Leverkusen meet Deutsche Bank Skyliners and defending champion Brose Baskets Bamberg face EWE Baskets Oldenburg. TBB Trier and Science City Jena were relegated from the top league. Berlin finished the regular season by beating New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig 77-57 for its ninth win in 10 games. Young Philip Zwiener led the Berlin charge with a career-high 17 points. Artland wrapped up second place by beating the LTi Giessen 46ers 61-69, finishing ahead of third place Leverkusen on a tiebreaker. Leverkusen edged Oldenburg 71-72 as Ty McCoy netted 24. Bamberg lost its regular-season finale at Bremerhaven, 87-76. The Koln 99ers snapped a four-game slide to finish the season on a sweet not by beating Walter Tigers Tubingen 96-76 as Yassin Idbihi was one of three 99ers with at least 20 points. In other games, Trier bid farewell to the league with a 74-64 win over Deutsche Bank Skyliners, BG 74 Gottingen topped EnBW Ludwigsburg 83-69, ratiopharm Ulm bested Telekom Baskets Bonn 93-83 as Jeff Gibbs had 20 points and 10 rebounds and digibu Baskets beat Science City Jena 75-78 as Tim Black recorded 21 points and 6 assists.

Alba Berlin finished the regular season with a 27-7 record after beating New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig 77-57 for its ninth win in 10 games. Young Philip Zwiener led the Berlin charge with a career-high 17 points. The hosts outscored Braunschweig 25-13 in the opening period to take control en route to the win. Aleksandar Nadjfeji added 13 points, Goran Nikolic had 11 and Immanuel McElroy posted 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Domonic Jones scored 16 for Braunschweig in defeat. The Artland Dragons built a 31-40 halftime lead and held on to top beating the LTi Giessen 46ers 61-69. Chad Prewitt scored 17 and Lamont McIntosh had 11 for the Dragons.

Brose Baskets Bamberg lost its regular-season finale at Eisbaren Bremerhaven, 87-76. The hosts took control early and went up 43-29 by halftime on the way to an easy win. Anthony Tolliver paced the winners with 21 points and Matt Haryasz posted 14 points and 9 rebounds. Darren Fenn and Dwayne Mitchell had 15 points apiece, Demond Greene scored 14 and Steffen Hamann scored 13 and dished 6 assists. The Koln 99ers snapped a four-game slide to finish the season on a sweet not by beating Walter Tigers Tubingen 96-76 as Yassin Idbihi was one of three 99ers with at least 20 points. Idbihi finished with 26 points, Brian Greene had 22 points and Marko Keselj netted 21.
