Italian League playoffs, Quarterfinals, Game 1: May 10-11, 2008
Ksistof Lavrinovic - Montepaschi Siena Defending champion Montepaschi Siena returned to action for the first time since taking third place at the Euroleague Final Four by beating Upim Bologna 91-72 in Game 1 of the Italian League playoff quarterfinals on Saturday. Montepaschi dominated the second half 46-33 to put the game away. Ksistof Lavrinovic paced Montepaschi with 15 points and 8 rebounds and Terrell McIntyre scored 14 and dished 6 assists. Premiata Montegranaro held off Armani Jeans Milano 73-69 in Game 1 of that series as Jobey Thomas came through for Montegranaro with 22 points and Kiwane Garris added 18. on Sunday, Lottomatica Roma trounced Tisettanta Cantu 85-59 to start that series on a high note. Roko Ukic scored 16 to lead Roma. Also Sunday, Air Avellino bested Pierrel Capo d'Orlando 103-92 as Eric Williams shined with 21 points and 16 rebounds.

After letting Upim hang around for one half after which it led 45-39, Montepaschi dominated the second half 46-33 to put the game away. Ksistof Lavrinovic paced Montepaschi with 15 points and 8 rebounds, Terrell McIntyre scored 14 and dished 6 assists, Romain Sato added 13 points, Shaun Stonerook 12 and Bootsy Thornton 10. Kristaps Janicenoks led Bologna with 16 points, Oscar Torres scored 13, Joseph Forte 12 and Dante Calabria 11 off the bench.

Premiata Montegranaro held off Armani Jeans Milano 73-69 in Game 1. Milano looked like the team to beat when it opened the second half with 14 unanswered points to take a 32-41 lead, but Jobey Thomas scored 9 as Montegranaro reeled off 14 off its own to regain the lead for good. Milano still kept it close and Melvin Booker hit a pair of threes to keep his team with 3 with a minute to go and Travis Watson made it 68-66 from the line, however a big Kiwane Garris triple and 2 Thomas free throws sealed the home team's win. Thomas led Montegranaro with 22 points, Garris added 18 and Sharrod Ford had 11. Dusan Vukcevic had 19 for Milano, Danilo Gallinari 17 and Booker and Ansu Sesay scored 12 apiece.

Lottomatica Roma trounced Tisettanta Cantu 85-59 Sunday to start that series on a high note. Roma, which led 42-36 at halftime, used a 13-4 third-quarter run to pull away and a 12-1 charge bridging the third and fourth periods to seal the win. Roko Ukic scored 16 to lead Roma, Erazem Lorbek added 15, Gregor Fucka 14 and David Hawkins and Ibrahim Jaaber scored 10 each. DaShaun Wood scored 12 for Cantu.
