Defending champion Azovmash Mariupol returned to the Ukrainian League finals Monday by beating Khimik Yuzny 96-75 in the fifth and final game of the semifinals. Azovmash will now face regular-season champ BC Kyiv in a rematch of last season’s finals. Azovmash never trailed, building an early 11-2 lead behind Tyus Edney and coasting from that point. The lead reached 13 later in the opening period and the hosts held off Khimik’s charge to take a 50-38 halftime advantage. The lead reached 20 on a Yegor Mescheriakov basket midway through the third quarter, essentially sealing the outcome. Mescheriakov led Azovmash with 21 points and 8 rebounds, Edney added 20 points, Tomas Delininkaitis scored 16 and Rodney Buford and Robert Archibald totaled 14 each. Goran Cakic paced Khimik with 19.
