FC Porto took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Portuguese League finals on Thursday with a 72-69 home win over defending champion Ovarense Aerosoles. Joso Figueiredo helped Porto start the game with a 7-0 and later a 15-2 advantage and the hosts coasted from that point, leading 38-26 at halftime and 56-47 after 30 minutes. However led by Gregory Stempin, Ovarense claws its way back and ties the game with 72 seconds remaining. But the comeback had sapped Ovarense of its energy and free throws by Julian Terrell and Joao Figueiredo sealed the Porto win. Terrell led Porto with 23 points and 10 rebounds Nuno Marcal added 15 points. Stempin posted 20 points and 10 rebounds for Ovarense in defeat.
