French League, Playoffs, Quarterfinals, Game 1: May 20-21, 2008

The French League playoffs opened midweek with four one-sided results, the biggest coming from SLUC Nancy, which blasted Vichy 81-43. Nancy dominated early and the result was never in doubt thanks to 24 points and 10 rebounds from Mike Bauer and a near triple-double by Ricardo Greer. Regular season champion Le Mans coasted by Cholet 82-62 as Alain Koffi posted 17. Defending champion Chorale Roanne dumped Le Havre 94-72 with Marc Salyers going off for 27 points in 25 minutes. And Asvel Lyon-Villeurbanne trounced Hyeres-Toulon 92-72 thanks to Robert Conley's 20 points. The second games of the best-of-three quarterfinals are slated for Friday and Saturday, with any potential Game 3s set for next week.

Nancy dominated early and the result was never in doubt thanks to 24 points and 10 rebounds from Mike Bauer and a near triple-double by Ricardo Greer. Greer posted 18 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Jimmal Ball and William Gradit scored 10 each and Issa Dounia grabbed 16 boards for Vichy. Defending champion Chorale Roanne dumped Le Havre 94-72 with Marc Salyers going off for 27 points in 25 minutes. Roanne dominated in the paint and outrebounded Le Havre 49-20 to make easy work of the game. Adam Hess added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Roanne, Brion Rush and Laurent Cazalon also scored 12 apiece and Derrick Byars added 10. Fabien Causeur led Le Havre with 17.
On Wednesday, Regular season champion Le Mans coasted by Cholet 82-62 as Alain Koffi posted 17. Le Mans shot 8 for 13 from downtown and controlled the glass 34-16 to ensure a comprehensive win. Sam Clancy had 16 points and 8 rebounds, Raviv Limonad added 16 points and Nicolas Batum shined with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists for Le Mans. Tchicamboud Steed paced Cholet with 19. And Asvel Lyon-Villeurbanne trounced Hyeres-Toulon 92-72 thanks to Robert Conley’s 20 points. Conley was 5 for 7 from behind the arc as Asvel made 13 of 28 (46.4%) from downtown. Lamayn Wilson added 18 points, Chevy Troutman 17 and Uche Nsonwu posted 10 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Paul McPherson and Austin Nichols scored 16 each for Hyeres-Toulon.
