German League Playoffs, Quarterfinals, Game 3: May 19-21, 2008
Immanuel McElroy - Alba Berlin Regular season champion Alba Berlin became the first team to advance to the German League semifinals, while defending champion Brose Baskets Bamberg avoided a sweep. Berlin bested Eisbaren Bremerhaven 95-73 in Game 3 of the best-of-five quarterfinal series thanks to 23 points on near-perfect shooting from Immanuel McElroy. Bamberg, which lost the opening to games of the series by 1 point, destroyed EWE Baskets Oldenburg 77-47 for its first win of the series. Tim Ohlbrecht led Bamberg with a double-double of 10 points and 14 boards. Bayer Giants Leverkusen used a great fourth-quarter comeback to beat Deutsche Bank Skyliners 82-79 and Telekom Baskets Bonn likewise came from behind to edge the Artland Dragons on the road 76-77 on Miah Davis's buzzer-beater. John Bowler led Bonn with 21.

Berlin became the first team to secure a semifinal berth. Bobby Brown added 17 points and 7 assists, Goran Nikolic and Aleksandar Nadjfeji scored 14 points apiece and Patrick Femerling had 10. The hosts were 14 for 28 from downtown. Brian Brown led Bremerhaven with 20. Defending champion Brose Baskets Bamberg, which lost the opening to games of the series by 1 point, destroyed EWE Baskets Oldenburg 77-47 for its first win of the series. Tim Ohlbrecht led Bamberg with a double-double of 10 points and 14 boards. The game was close for 20 minutes, but Bamberg ruled in the second half, 43-17. Dwayne Mitchell scored 14 for Bamberg, Demond Greene had 12 and Steffen Hamann 11. Branimir Longin scored 10 for Oldenburg in defeat.

Bayer Giants Leverkusen used a great fourth-quarter comeback to beat Deutsche Bank Skyliners 82-79 and take a 2-1 series lead. Pascal Roller hit a pair of three that helped the Skyliners take a 46-53 halftime lead. Derrick Allen led the way as the visitors stayed on top through the third period. The Giants stormed back and Brant Bailey tied it at 76-76 with a minute to go. Roller again answered with a triple for Skyliners, but Bailey scored 2 from the line, Gordon Geib hit a jumper and Ransford Brempong iced the game from the line. Bailey paced Leverkusen with 25 and Geib added 15 for the winners. Allen had 21 and 10 rebounds for the Skyliners and Roller posted 17 points and 6 assists. Telekom Baskets Bonn came from behind to edge the Artland Dragons on the road 76-77 on Miah Davis’s buzzer-beater. It was a game of runs as the hosts scored 11 straight in the first period to build their first promising lead, but Bonn stayed close enough, trailed only 43-36 at halftime and used a 0-8 third quarter charge to go on top once more. However Artland battled back and went on to take a 9-point fourth quarter advantage. The tide turned Bonn’s way after Adam Chubb fouled out and John Bowler and Winsome Frazier led their eam back, setting the stage for Davis’s heroics. Bowler led Bonn with 21 points, Frazier added 14 and Ronnie Burrell 12. Darius Hall paced Artland with 14, Lamont McIntosh added 12 and Chubb and Leon Rodgers had 11 each.
