Portuguese League Finals, Game 6: May 22, 2008
It will all go down to Game 7 in the Portuguese League finals after Porto Ferpinta edged Ovarense Aerosoles 71-69 in Game 6 to tie the best-of-seven title series at 3-3. Julian Terrell paced the winners with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Toree Morris added 18 points while Nuno Marcal had 15 for Porto. John Waller had 16 points for Ovarense, Cordell Henry added 14 and Greg Stempin posted 10 and 11 boards for the guests. Ovarense hosts make-or-break Game 7 on Saturday. Terrell and Morris fueled an 8-0 run that gave Porto a 16-8 lead, but Elvis Evora and Hendry brought Ovarense within 24-20 after 10 minutes. Marcal gave Porto a nine-point lead, 38-29, late in the second quarter but Miguel Miranda, Hendry and Fernando Neves kept Ovarense in the game, 42-39, at halftime. Terrell and Morris kept pacing Porto after the break, as the hosts boosted their lead to 67-58 with less than eight minutes to go. Henry and Waller stepped up for Ovarense while a fast break layup by Stempin made Porto call timeout at 71-69 with 59 seconds remaining. Ovarense went scoreless when it mattered most, allowing Porto to tie the series.
