Austrian League Finals, Game 4: May 22, 2008
|
BSC Raiffeisen Furstenfeld held off a late Oberwart Gunners charge for an 87-85 win in Game 4 of the Austrian League finals. The result sets up a deciding Game 5 on Sunday in Oberwart. Shelton Colwell scored 26 and Michael Fraser added 21 for the victorious Panthers. The balanced contest saw the hosts lead 47-45 at halftime, before Furstenfeld made its move in the third quarter and took a 10-point lead. When Slobodan Ocokoljic made it 76-67 with four minutes left, the Panthers seemed certain to win. In the ensuing minutes, the Gunners came close a number of times, but each time the hosts had an answer. With 2 seconds remaining and the Panthers up 4, Oberwart's Hannes Ochsenhofer went to the free-throw line for 3 attempts. He made the first 2 and then missed the last on purpose, but none of his teammates came up with the ball and time expired allowing the hosts to celebrate the win. Jay Youngblood led Oberwart with 37 points and Jason Johnson posted 14.
