Barons/LMT edged ASK Riga 79-78 in Game 5 of the Latvian League finals to win the championship for the first time in club history. The Barons won the best-of-seven series 4-1 and guard Armands Skele was named playoffs MVP after averaging 16.4 points on 63% two-point and 48% three-point shooting plus 3.8 assists per game. On Sunday, Barons won the closest game of the series thanks to another great shooting night and a big game from Demetrius Alexander, who posted 22 points and 8 rebounds. Joao Paulo added 17 points, Skele 13 and Dontell Jefferson had 10 for Barons, who won despite committing 24 turnovers. Curtis Millage netted 21 for Riga in defeat, Raitis Grafs added 18 and Jahovics 13.
