French League Quarterfinals, Game 3: May 27, 2008
Pape Badiane - Chorale Roanne Chorale Roanne became the last team to reach the French League semifinals by thrashing Le Havre 101-69 at home in Game 3 on Tuesday. Roanne won the best-of-three series 2-1 and is set to face Le Mans in the semifinals, starting on Saturday. Sluc Nancy goes against Asvel Basket in the other best-of-three semifinal series. Marc Salyers, Pape Badiane and Mohamed Kone paced the winners each with 16 points. Badiane added 11 rebounds for a huge double-double in just 15 minutes on court. Brion Rush added 12 points while Derrick Byars had 11 for Roanne. Marcellus Sommerville led Le Havre with 26 points on 7-for-7 two-pointers while Ali Traore and John Cox each added 10. Rush and Badiane fueled a game-breaking 18-2 run that Byars capped with a put-back layup to put Chorale ahead for good. Byars and Kone extended the hosts' lead to 30-12 after 10 minutes while a three-pointer by Rush made it a 20-point game, 42-22. Le Havre got within 50-40 right after the break but Badiane and an unstoppable Salyers led a 16-0 run that sealed the outcome, as the guests never recovered.
