Olympiacos came up big in the Game 2 of the best-of-five Greek League finals to down Panathinaikos 71-55 and tie the series at 1-1. The win also ensures that the Reds will play one more game at their Peace and Friendship Stadium this season – Game 4. Lynn Greer, who didn't play well in Game 1, posted 20 points this time and, but it was Panagiotis Vassilopoulos who proved himself as the main man for the hosts. Sarunas Jasikevicius led the Greens with 13 points. Panathinaikos took a very early 4-8 lead, but Olympiacos reacted immediately with tough. The hosts denied the usual pick-and-roll of the Greens and forced them to shot from the perimeter, where they missed 8 three-pointers in a row. The Reds had more balance and alternatives and managed to build a double-digit lead that settled at 33-20 at the end of the first half. Later in the third quarter Vassilopoulos posted a big three for a 16-point margin. Panathinaikos cut to 46-37, but Olympiacos didn't allow them any closer. Greer netted 20 points, including 5-for-8 three-point shooting, Vassilopoulos posted 12 points, 5 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals and Giorgos Printezis added 9 points. For Panathinaikos Jasikevicius had 12 points, Dimitris Diamantidis recorded 11 points, 9 boards and 4 assists and Vassilis Spanoulis added 10 points. Game 4 is set for Thursday at OAKA. Meanwhile Maroussi edged Panionios at home, 76-65, to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series for the third place. Branko Milisavlievic returned after his absence in the first match due to an illness and bagged 16 points for the winners.
