Polish League Finals, Game 5: May 28, 2008
Pape Sow - Prokom Trefl Despite playing without top scorer and leader Milan Gurovic, defending champion Prokom Trefl Sopot beat PGE Turow Zgorzelec on the road 59-66 in Game 5 of the Polish League finals to move within one win of the club's fifth consecutive championship. Prokom now leads the best-of-seven series 3-2 and will host Game 6 on Saturday. Gurovic was suspended for one game after fighting in Game 4, when he hit Turow forward Thomas Kelati. But Prokom overcame his absence with high-level defense, particularly in the final period. For three periods, the hosts seemed to control the game. Robert Witka scored 11 points in the opening quarter as Turow built a small lead, but couldn't escape for good. After halftime Dragisa Drobnjak hit 2 triples on his way to 10 points in the third period as Turow went ahead by 10. But final period belonged to Prokom. The visitors limited Turow to just 5 points and on the other side Pape Sow threw down 2 spectacular dunks to punch his team ahead 56-58. Down the stretch Filip Dylewicz and Krzysztof Roszyk made three-point plays to seal the victory. Dylewicz lead winners with 26 points, while Roszyk added 15. David Logan scored 15, Drobnjak 14 and Witka 13 for struggling Turow, which lost its third game in a row and also lost home-court advantage in the series.
