Croatian League Finals, Game 5: June 6, 2008

Zadar is the Croatian League champion! Zadar won its second Croatian League title by thrashing Split 89-65 in do-or-die Game 5 of the best-of-five final playoff series. Andrej Stimac paced the winners with 21 points on 7-for-7 two-pointers and 2-for-3 triples. Juby Johnson added 20 while Rok Stipcevic had 10 for Zadar. Hrvoje Peric had 21 points for Split but none of his teammates scored in double digits. Peric gave Split his only lead of the night, 3-5. Johnson and Jere Macura pur Zadar ahead with 5 quick points by Pankracije Barac allowed Zadar to get a double-digit lead, 25-15, after 10 minutes. Johnson kept pacing Zadar while Stimac extended the hosts' margin to 44-32 at halftime. Stimac had 12 points in the third quarter, in which Split was only limited to 8 points, and soon struck from downtown to break the game open, 70-40, with 9 minutes to go. Everything was said and done, as all Zadar fans had time to celebrate that their team is the new Croatian league champ!
