The second half of the regular season began in Week 6 with the confirmation of the last undefeated team in the Euroleague and the first to reach the Top 16. That team - or rather, well-oiled machine - was none other than Regal FC Barcelona, which cruised past Fenerbahce Ulker 89-55 with more overwhelming defense and a new pair of top scorers, Jaka Lakovic and Fran Vazquez, with 15 points each. Barça tops Group A again at 6-0, followed by Montepaschi Siena, which beat Cibona 90-64 despite trailing at home at the half. Moving into fourth place was Asvel, a 77-67 victor over Zalgiris as Rawle Marshall scored 20. Group B's leader did not take advantage of its Top 16 opportunity, as visiting Partizan ambushed Unicaja 64-72 behind 16 pooints and 10 rebounds from Dusan Kecman. Partizan joins a three-way tie for third place with Efes Pilsen, which downed Lietuvos Rytas 77-62 with a super contribution - 17 points in 13 minutes - from Daniel Santiago. All the more reason for second-place Olympiacos, an 84-88 victor at winless Orleans to give thanks for 19 fourth-quarter points from Linas Kleiza and a record-tying 14 assists from Theo Papaloukas. Otherwise, the Reds would have been part of a four-way tie. In Group C, Maccabi Electra won 65-82 at Union Olimpija to stay first, while two home winners - CSKA, by 78-65 over Maroussi and Caja Laboral, by 67-60 over Roma - now share second place. Only Group D still has co-leaders - Real Madrid, after kicking Khimki 70-59 from its share, and Panathinaikos, which stopped Milano 80-68. The latter result helped Prokom, n 80-82 road winner at Oldenburg, move into fourth place. Stay tuned for Week 7, when up to seven more teams could reach the Top 16! ....MORE
