Final Four Game 2 - May 01, 2004 - NOKIA ARENA
POST-GAME QUOTES
94 - 97
CSKA MOSCOW Head Coach
IVKOVIC, DUSAN
"It was a high quality game. There were two different halves. First, my team looked bad and I didn't expect they would play without desire. They are a great team from the arc and they shot 7 of 10 in the first half and 6 of 7 in the first quarter. Then we started to play more aggressive and our pressure gave us results. I want to congratulate my players for that because we have to give a good image of the team. We expected more than the third place. It may be an improvement or not as compared to last season, but two straight Final Fours is a good thing for CSKA. I still think that my team is the best in Europe and I want to congratulate its people and its fans. The next season starts in October and we'll have a lot of work to do if we want to be in the MOscow Final Four next year."
CSKA MOSCOW Guard
HOLDEN, J.R.
"The difference tonight was our bench and of course Marcus Brown. We didn't play great. We played well enough to win. We came back after the first half when we didn't defend. But it is still disappointing to have lost to Maccabi. I want to be clear that I've got no problems with Maccabi or how Maccabi won. I have no problems with Jasikevicius. He's a great player and a good guy off the court. People thought that I had a problem with him because we were talking on the court. All that was just us being competitive."
CSKA MOSCOW Forward
TURKCAN, MIRSAD
"It is always good to finish the Final Four with a win. We had a slow start, like we were a little bit sleepy, but we managed to come back in the second half. Of course, our big chance will be next year, as the Final Four will be held in Moscow, but even with that, we lost a great chance. We had a great season, both in the Euroleague and we hope to win the Russian League, too, as our playing level has been really high all season long."
CSKA MOSCOW Forward
PANOV, SERGEY
"We needed more concentration in the first half. That was our problem. We didn't play defense at all. We were very weak. The difference happened with two or three guys started playing, Khryapa, Monia and Marcus Brown. Khryapa and Monia gave us more mobility on defense. In the second half we played our game and we were pleased with the result."
