Maxim Grigoryev scored 17 and Jeremiah Massey posted 16 points and 8 rebounds to pace the winners. A seesaw battle saw Alba lead 41-34 after 4 Marko Simonovic triples late in the second quarter. The game came down to the final seconds, but both Heiko Schaffartzik and Kyle Weaver missed to tie in the last 10 seconds and Massey iced Kuban’s win from the line. Rod Blakney finished with 14 points, Sergey Bykov scored 12 and K.C. Rivers 11 for the victors. Derrick Allen scored 19 and picked up 4 steals for short-handed Berlin, which was without injured centers Torin Francis and Yassin Idbihi. But we had two or three black moments – at the end of the first quarter and in the second half – that really hurt us. Obviously we missed our two centers Idbihi and Francis and Dashaun Wood was not at his full strength, but we never gave up and fought till the end. That’s the positive side."
