THE TAKE

Crvena Zvezda hosts Cholet Basket with a golden a opportunity to move to 3-0 in Group F before its home fans. Cholet, 1-1, will be no pushover and has the individual players capable of shooting the lights out of Pionir Arena. Cholet boasts one of the most dangerous backcourts in the competition. Guard Samuel Mejia is leading his team in scoring and assists while his partner Arvydas Eitutavicius comes off a 20-point outing at Dynamo. Luckily for Crvena Zvezda, it too has talent on the perimeter. Vuk Radivojevic is having a great all-around season as has his partner Filip Videnov. If the Crvena Zvezda duo can lock down Mejia and Eitutavicius, their team will be in good shape to control the game. That being said, another excellent individual match-up will be fought at the forward spot. Crvena Zvezda’s Tadija Dragicevic leads the hosts in scoring and Cholet’s Antywane Robinson comes close to matching his opponent. Their battle should be great to watch as well as the duel between their frontcourt sidekicks. Cholet’s Mikael Gelabe will be charged with handling the explosive Marko Keselj and also may see some time against youngster Nemanja Bjelica, who adds a spark off the bench. Not to be outdone, the centers also will no doubt get their moment in the spotlight. Cholet counts on big man Randal Falker to patrol the paint. Falker should have quite a battle banging against Elmedin Kikanovic and backup Vladimir Stimac for supremacy in the middle. Cholet comes in the slight underdog being the visiting side, but anything can happen when you have big scorers who flourish under adversity. All eyes will thus be on Mejia and co. to see if they can step up to the challenge of playing in front of the Belgrade fans.

Quotes Head Coaches

PETROVIC, ACO
Crvena Zvezda
"It is good that we play at home, because last week was an extremely difficult one for us. I hope that we are persistent and focused. If we play at a high rhythm, we can beat Cholet. They are a very talented team, with a long rotation. They play really well in transition and that may be their main strength. They have put together a very athletic team that run the floor well. They have 22 offensive rebounds so far in the Eurocup and that illustrates their strength under the baskets."

Head Coaches

PETROVIC, ACO
Crvena Zvezda
"Congratulations to my players for the excellent defense which gave us the final win. We did a great job but nothing is over yet. Our goal is to be best placed in the group at the end of the first phase to get credits before the second phase. Tonight we had a lot of problems in offense against hard working Cholet but we managed to compensate that with reboundings and aggresive defense. That was the key for our win. I am satisfied with the win but there are two more games on the road and we have to be focused on that."
KUNTER, ERMAN
Cholet Basket
"I am sure we will beat Crvena Zvezda next week at our home court. Tonight we played so badly in defense and we recieved 82 points. Most problems we had were with guard Vuk Radivojevic and power forward Tadija Dragicevic. We are a team that plays aggressive pressing on the ball but today we missed to implement that. I am sure we shall fix it before the next game in France with the same Crvena Zvezda. Now the situation in our group is pretty complicated for Cholet because we have to win all three games to go to the second phase. Crvena Zvezda is almost there for sure with a 3-0 record but I am sure we shall beat them next Tuesday."

Players

DRAGICEVIC, TADIJA
Crvena Zvezda
"The key for our win was that we managed to limit Cholet's offensive rebounding in the second half. After this 3-0 record we wish to finish the competition as the best placed team in our group. It is so good we won tonight because had we not, our future in this Eurocup could have been more complicated."
