Kraznye Krylia’s high scoring backcourt combo of JR Bremer and Brion Rush face off against the pairing of Fabio Di Bella and Timmy Bowers of Pepsi Caserta in what is expected to be a high intensity game in Russia on Tuesday night. The Eurocup debut for the Red Wings is considered an excellent chance for the club to establish itself in European competition. And Kraznye boasts the muscle needed to do it with high scoring small forward Gerald Green and an established post presence in experienced center Primoz Brezec. Head coach Mikhail Mikhailov’s team hopes to offset Caserta’s strong rebounding trio of Luca Garri, Olumide Oyedeji and Jumaine Jones. The visitors intend to run, no doubt, with quick and powerful slashers like Bowers and Ebi Ere feasting on forced turnovers and the steady hand of Di Bella orchestrating the transition game. The hosts will try to counter with some rugged inside play and have plenty of size and depth to create matchup problems, especially if Jermareo Davidson shines in his Eurocup debut and Konstantin Nesterov flashes some of that double digit scoring from last year’s tournament. The Red Wings led by 13 in the third quarter, but Caserta when on a 2-19 run sparked by the offensive prowess of Di Bella, Timmy Bowers and Jumaine Jones to take the lead at heading into the fourth quarter and the visitors made it stand. Krasnye Krylia could not translate a big night by Primoz Brezec, who had 24 points on perfect shooting and 7 rebounds, into their first win of the competition. Luca Garri added 17 points and Ebi Ere scored 11 for Caserta, which hosts Anwil Wloclawek next week. Krasnye Krylia got 13 points from Konstantin Nesterov and JR Bremer added 12 plus 4 assists.
