THE TAKE

History will be made during the Game of the Week in Vitoria. Host Laboral Kutxa Vitoria needs just 30 more points to become the first team in competition history to reach 25,000 points, while former MVP Vassilis Spanoulis needs just 5 more points to become the fourth player in competition history to reach 2,500 career points. Laboral will turn to point guard Thomas Heurtel to end a three-game losing streak and remain in contention for a Top 16 berth. Heurtel comes off one of the best games of his career and has been dangerous as a scorer and creator. He teams with Sasha Vujacic and Fernando San Emeterio in a backcourt that will challenge Spanoulis, Vangelos Mantzaris, Oliver Lafayette and Kostas Sloukas. Laboral has a pair of traditional centers in Colton Iverson and Mirza Begic, who will draw the attention of undersized, but highly athletic pivotmen Bryant Dunston and Othello Hunter. Ace shooter Davis Bertans and forward Toko Shengelia will face off for Laboral against the Reds’ Brent Petway and Dimitrios Agravanis. With Olympiacos undefeated and having already clinched a Top 16 spot, one might think that Laboral would be hungrier, but the Reds are a team that is always eager to win.

Quotes Head Coaches

NAVARRO, IBON
Laboral Kutxa Vitoria
"We are approaching this game like a final. We know we are in trouble because we cannot slip anymore in Euroleague. We are trying for the team to keep getting better and for it to be ready for the game. If we don't defeat Olympiacos, our chances are so slim it's ridiculous. It's better to focus n this game and not look too far ahead. What worries me about Spanoulis is not only his ability to score, but also how he creates for his teammates."
SFAIROPOULOS, GIANNIS
Olympiacos Piraeus
"It's an important game for both teams. We have to be very focused so that we will be able to include in our game everything we have worked on at practice. We are facing a team who plays in high tempo, especially at home, and we will have to meet the demands of a difficult game."

Players

BERTANS, DAVIS
Laboral Kutxa Vitoria
"Olympiacos is the best team in the group but we have to win this game. We cannot lose anymore. We are improving and I think that at home, with the help of our fans, we can win this game. We could have won there if we had played just a little better. Spanoulis is their key and we must try to stop him, but at the same time, control the rest of players."
HUNTER, OTHELLO
Olympiacos Piraeus
"It's a game which requires full concentration by each one of us. We will have to be ready at any point to face any situation in this game. Laboral Kutxa plays really fast in front of their fans and we must not let them play their way."
