THE TAKE

After two straight wins to open up Group C, Budivelnik (2-0) hopes to turn back visiting KK Buducnost m:tel on Tuesday to take a gian step toward qualifying for the Last 16. Buducnost (1-1) is an upredictable visitor, having won impressively on the road and lost as impressively at home so far. Budivelnik showed plenty of muscle in their Week 2 beating of Siauliai, as Lamayne Wilson tallied a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Billy Keys followed him with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, while Zach Morley added 11 points. Meanwhile, a standout performance by Vladimir Dragicevic last week did not translate into a win for Buducnost against Gran Canaria. The talented forward scored 25 points in the game's first 16 minutes. He will be counted on to deliver this week again and keep his performance going longer. The Monetenegrin side will need more of a balanced production, however, as Vladimir Mihailovic followed with 10 and Marko Simonovic and Aleksej Nesovic had 9 each last week but the rest of the rotation scored only 13 points. Budivelnik can hurt Buducnost from long range with Wilson and Keys, while Morley is a talented player who will have to be kept in check by multi-skilled Marko Scekic at the forward positon. Andy Betts offers solid post skills and hustle at center for the hosts, and will have to battle Buducnost’s army of banging forwards in the paint. Aleksej Nesovic and Nikola Otasevic will share the playmaking duties for the visitors, who will try to put the ball as much as possible into Dragicevic's hands, to see if he can lead his team to another road win.

Quotes Head Coaches

BERROCAL, JOSEP MARIA
Budivelnik
"Buducnost is a very serious opponent with young players. They are good in offense where they play like a team. Buducnost are simple but they clearly know what they want to play. They also play hard in defense. They lost their last to games, so they will come to Dnipro badly 'injured'. As for us, the future game is as usual: we need to focus on our game and try to give 100 percent. This game is very important for both teams to try to qualify to the next round."
RADONJIC, DEJAN
Buducnost m:tel
"Although Budivelnik is a team from Ukraine it is one of the strongest contenders in this competition. According to their roster they could successfully play in Euroleague. Their preseason ambitions were in line with this. Against Gran Canaria they have shown their full potential their quality. So it is more than obvious that we expect very hard game. And our approach is like always – without a white flag."

"That's going to be a very big game. As we watched on the video they're a very aggressive team. But I think if we play well we should win. As for me, I like to play the games in Eurocup and Euroleague, and I’m very excited about that. So I played in previous Budivelnik’s Eurocup games as hard as I could. And I’ll play the best of my abilities on Tuesday. I don’t know any players from Buducnost. And for me it's easier: they don’t know me, I don’t know them. So my mind is free. I just go and play."
DRAGICEVIC, VLADIMIR
Buducnost m:tel
"It is very hard to play such an important game after two consecutive defeats. And all of us are aware that is more than hard to win against Budivelnik. First we have to play much better than against Gran Canaria. If we impose our rhythm with strong defense and fastbreaks we would have a chance to surprise them. We would also be stronger for Nemanja Gordic and Aleksandar Mitrovic. So I expect that all of us prove our maximum."
Zach Morley - Budivelnik (photo Budivelnik)Budivelnik remained undefeated in Eurocup Group C after downing KK Buducnost 70-56 on Tuesday night. Zach Morley scored 18 of his 25 points in the first half to push the hosts to a 40-27 halftime lead. And Andy Betts scored 7 of his 11 points in the closing minutes – mostly after Morley had fouled out – to help seal the win. In between, Lamayne Wilson amassed 16 points and Michalis Anismovas scored 11 for the Group C leaders. Vladimir Dragicevic paced Buducnost with 14 points and Bojan Dubljevic added 11 as the Montenegrin champs dropped to 1-2. Buducnost will hope to exact revenge when the teams meet next week in Montenegro.

Buducnost struck first with Dubljevic down low before Anismovas got Budivelnik on the scoreboard. The tandem of Dragicevic and Dubljevic went to work in the paint and carried the visitors to a 4-9 lead. Budivelnik toughened up on defense and took control with four baskets from four different players. Buducnost had no answer for Morley, but kept it close through points from Nikola Otasevic and Dragicevic. A Wilson triple made it 21-16 after 10 minutes. Vladimir Mihailovic knotted the score early in the second quarter, but after that Buducnost was silenced for several minutes. In the meantime, Wilson, Leonid Stefanyshyn and Morley led a 13-2 charge that put the home team in total control. Even after Dubljevic scored a second-chance basket, Morley continued to stretch the lead. Mihailovic’s jumper could not do much as Wilson made it 40-27 at halftime.

Anismovas put the hosts up by as many as 14 early in the third quarter, but Buducnost did not throw in the towel. Nemanja Gordic sank a three to revive the visitors, however Morley pumped the lead all the way to 50-35. Baskets by Dragicevic and Dubljevic and free throws from newcomer Aleksandar Mitrovic cut the deficit to 54-44 at the end of the quarter. Mitrovic and Marko Simonovic continued to push the visitors and Dragicevic brought his team within 56-50, putting some fear into the home crowd. Andriy Agafonov helped calm the Budivelnik faithful with a basket and soon Andy Betts from the line and Wilson with a steal and layup helped rebuild a double-digit cushion. A final Buducnost push including points from Mitrovic and Mihailovic got the gusts within 62-55, however Betts showed his experience with valuable points that restored the 11-point edge and secured an important win for the hosts.

"We had a good start, good defense in the first half. But then we relaxed a bit. If we would have kept playing like we've started, we should surely would have won with a better margin. However, we were better in the last minutes, because right now every point counts for us."
