THE TAKE

The winner will take the spoils as PGE Turow Zgorzelec will host CEZ Nymburk in Liberec after the teams played to a 61-61 tie in the ULEB Cup Last 32 first leg. Nymburk shot 51% from the field and held Turow to just 43% from the field but forced just 8 PGE turnovers. Head coach Saso Filipovski has to be pleased with his Turow team's determination in shrugging off a 9-point second quarter and 21-point first half and rallying from a 17-point deficit. The key for the Polish team was point guard Andres Rodriguez's control of the game, as he dished out 8 assists and PGE committed just 8 turnovers. Small forward Thomas Kelati was held to just 4 points - 12 below his average. But forwards Robert Witka and Marko Scekic both scored 12 points off the bench and shooting guard David Logan had 13 and power forward Dragisa Drobnjak led the team with 14 points. With the team playing in its ULEB Cup home court and Kelati expected to come out fired up and bounce back, Turow goes into the game as favorite. Nymburk head coach Muli Katzurin knows his Czech team failed to take care of business, relinquishing the 17-point advantage. Small forward Ladislav Sokolovsky tallied 16 points and 8 rebounds, including the game-tying shot in the waning seconds. Center Radoslav Rancik had a strong effort of 15 and 9 while power forward Petr Benda added 13 points. But Katzurin had to watch playmaker Arthur Lee slump to just 5 points, 0 assists and 4 turnovers. Lee will have to snap out of his doldrums and step things up if Nymburk want to advance to a Final 16 showdown with either BC Kyiv or Telindus Oostende.

Mack tried to change things with a three-point play but back-to-back baskets by Drobnjak gave Turow a 64-50 margin. Rancik stepped up with 7 unanswered points but he didn't find much help around. Meanwhile, Logan scored to make Nymburk call timeout at 66-57. A power layup by Lee, a free throw by Rancik and another basket by Mack gave the guests some hope, 68-64, with 2 minutes to go. Lee hit free throws to turn the game into a thriller, 68-66. Kelati and Rodriguez missed in the other end but Mack did not manage to tie the game in Nymburk's final possession.

Head Coaches

FILIPOVSKI, SASO
PGE Turów Zgorzelec
"Congratulations to my players because they did a great jog today. That was very tough competition on both sides. We had many well-prepared actions and I think that sometimes we played smarter, better than CEZ. I know that was a very exhausting game but it was worth the price."
KATZURIN, MULI
CEZ Nymburk
"We didn't play as well as we should have. We had many turnovers and fouls, what was bad to our team. I think that Turow played a little bit smarter than we did. As I said we had many turnovers but its a part of Turow`s defense. They played better."
RANCIK, RADOSLAV
CEZ Nymburk
"It's very difficult to talk about this a moment after games's done. I think we couldn't do it because of the pressure and emotions. They had many good actions, but we also had them. It's sport and nothing is for sure. I think we didn't play as well as we could, maybe I didn't. I could have done it better."
