THE TAKE

Sluc Nancy hosts Hemofarm Vrsac on Tuesday in a pivotal Group A match to determine the club's final place placement heading into the elimination rounds. Assuming that Lietuvos Rytas beats AEK at home, the winner of this game will place second and the loser would be third, unless Nancy beats Hemofarm and Gran Canaria beats Brose Baskets in the other Week 10, Group A game. In that event, it would be L. Rytas first, Nancy second and Gran Canaria would earn third at Hemofarm's expense due to a 2-0 record against them. If AEK upsets L. Rytas, then the winner of Nancy-Hemofarm will be the Group A champion. The importance of taking one of the top two spots is a home-court advantage in the next round of action. Nancy has won its last two games and boasts some of the top individual performers in the competition. Tariq Kirksay is the ULEB Cup's leading rebounder (10.3 rpg.), second in steals (2.2 spg.), fourth in blocks (1.4 bpg.) and seventh in scoring (17.6 ppg.). Big Cyril Julian (13.1 ppg., 8.8 rpg.) is fourth in rebounds and center Daniel McClintock (11.3 ppg., 70.9% FG) completes a formidable frontline, while guard Branko Milisavljevic (14.3 ppg., 3 apg.) has made a positive impact since joining the club mid-season. Depth is the key on a well-balanced Hemofarm side, which boasts four scorers averaging double figures – not counting guard Aleksej Nesovic who had 10 points and 8 assists in his debut last week. Nebojsa Joksimovic (15.9 ppg., 3.5 apg.), the team's leading scorer, amassed a season-high 23 in last week's win over AEK. Forward Predrag Suput (13.9 ppg., 5 rpg.) and center Velimie Radinovic could assume more of a scoring role now that Milenko Topic (13.1 ppg.) has been suspended. Radinovic and Topic scored 18 apiece to lead Hemofarm to a 93-82 win when they met in November in Serbia. Hemofarm forward Milos Borisov, who had 22 points and 9 boards last week in Topic's absence, will need another productive night to help his team win the frontcourt battle. A key matchup on the perimeter pits Joksimovic against Cedrick Banks (11.3 ppg., 3.2 apg.). Ultimately, every play could make the difference as both teams give everything to win this crucial game.

Branko Milisavljevic - Sluc Nancy Sluc Nancy finished secone in Group A and will have the home court advantage in at least the first elimination round by edging Hemofarm 89-81 in a big showdown on Tuesday. Suput and Vukosavljevic brought Hemofarm within 78-75, but Kirksay and an unstoppable Milisavljevic allowed Nancy to add a key win down the stretch.

Hemofarm left no doubt about its power in the early going, as Suput scored twice around the basket while Milos Markovic added one from downtown for a 2-7 lead. Milisavljevic tried to change things with a jumper, but Velimir Radinovic and Suput kept Hemofarm ahead, 4-11. Dan McClintock took over with his second dunk that Nesovic erased with a jumper. Kirksay found his first basket and DeRon Hayes made free throws, a three-point play by Markovic gave Hemofarm a 10-16 edge. Victor Sanmick followed a layup with free throws while Banks hit one from downtown for a 19-20 Nancy deficit. A close basket by Ricky Soliver gave Nancy its first lead, 21-20, at the end of the first quarter. McClintock got a layup-plus-foul but Vukosavljevic and a red hot Nesovic allowed Hemofarm to regain the lead, 24-26. Milisavljevic stepped up with a three-point play while Miljan Rakic and Hayes traded baskets for a 29-28 score. Rakic scored again, as Nancy went scoreless for 3 minutes called a much-needed timeout. Vukosavljevic followed a layup-plus-foul with free throws while Nesovic added a second-chance layup to keep Hemofarm ahead, 31-38, after a 2-10 run. Nancy kept missing free throws and even when Banks fired in a triple, Milos Borisov answered from downtown to make the guests keep a 39-43 halftime edge.

Vladan Vukosavljevic Hemofarm McClintock dunked it again while Zianveni added a second-chance layup to get Nancy going after the break, but a three-pointer by Nemanja Artaunovic kept Hemofarm ahead, 43-48. It didn't last long, however, as Hemofarm went scoreless in the next 5 minutes. Meanwhile, Milisavljevic stepped up with 7 quick points while Banks followed free throws with a bomb from downtown to make Hemofrm call timeout at 57-48. Nancy kept rolling, as Kirksay scored in the paint while Milisavljevic buried another triple which capped a game-breaking 19-0 run and gave Nancy a 62-48 margin. Rakic nailed a triple while Suput added a jumper to get Hemofarm within 64-53 after three quarters. Hemofarm needed a quick comeback now and Vukosavljevic tried to ignit one with a layup and free throws. Even when Milisavljevic kept scoring, Nesovic hit one from downtown and Suput added a layup to bring Hemofarm back to life, 68-62. Kirksay hit back-to-back layups and Milisavljevic added another basket, but Hemofarm was on fire now. Suput stepped up with a three-point play and a triple while Vukosavljevic added a layup for a 78-75 deficit. Kirksay took over with a jumper and Zianveni hit free throws to give Nancy some freash air, 82-75. Vukosavljevic and Suput kept trying to complete Hemofarm's comeback, but Milisavljevic sealed the win from the free throw line.

Head Coaches

MONSCHAU, JEAN-LUC
Nancy
"Hemofarm played very well even if they have a lot of injured players. Cyril Julian got injured after 4 minutes but we made a very good job in defense. I think we played our best basketball during the third quarter."
NIKOLIC, MIROSLAV
Hemofarm
"I would like to thank Nancy for hosting us. We have a lot of injured players, I just got five available players whereas Nancy has got a very strong bench. During the third quarter, Nancy won 25-10. That was the key moment of the game."

Players

SAMNICK, VICTOR
Nancy
"Hemofarm is a really good team. I think we defended better during the second half and we finished at the second position of the group after the first round. That was a good game."
MILISAVLJEVIC, BRANKO
Nancy
"It was an important game because we wanted to finish in second position of the group. Hemofarm, like a lot of teams from Serbia, has a lot of talented players. I think we let them be at the beginning of the game but after, we defended better and we won."
RADINOVIC, VELIMIR
Hemofarm
"Nancy played very strong inside. At the end we had a bounce of energy, it wasn’t enough."
