Azovmash Mariupol (2-3) can still qualify for the Final Eight from the Last 16 Group K with a victory at Crvena Zvezda (1-4) and some help. Azovmash needs to win on the road and hope that group leader Pamesa Valencia beats Hemofarm in the other group game. Azovmash stayed alive in the running for the Final Eight last week with an 89-71 victory at home against Hemofarm. Head coach Rimas Girskis's Ukrainian team shot a blistering 73% from two-point range while holding Hemofarm to 50% from near distance and just 7 of 25 (28%) three-pointers. Mariupol made 7 of 17 (41%) from long range, but Girskis cannot have been happy about his team making 14 of 22 (64%) free throws. Guard Khalid El-Amin stepped up his game big time and collected 30 points and 9 assists in leading Azovmash to the win. Forward Dijon Thompson added 17 points and 6 rebounds and center Hasan Rizvic nearly matched his output for the entire Last 16 with 16 points to go with 6 rebounds. That trio proved enough for Girskis's team to stay in the hunt. But Mariupol will have to improve on its 23 turnovers and 31-22 rebounding disadvantage in its 62-74 Week 2 loss at home against Crvena Zvezda. Head coach Svetislav Pesic's Serbian team meanwhile hopes to snap a three-game losing streak and finish its Last 16 campaign with a victory. Crvena Zvezda dropped to 1-4 with an 82-80 loss at Pamesa. Pesic's men could not take advantage of 21 Pamesa turnovers as the young Serbian side committed 18 turnovers itself and made just 15 of 23 (65%) free throws. Forward Tadija Dragicevic scored 20 points off the bench and reserve guard Mirko Kovac added 13 points. Guard Andre Owens hit for 12 points, but the rest of the starters combined for just 18. Azovmash's third win in four games was not enough to propel head coach Rimas Girskis’s men, who needed to win and for Pamesa Valencia to beat Hemofarm to reach the Final Eight. However Hemofarm's 66-62 win effectively ended Azovmash's season. Azovmash finishes third in Group K with a 3-3 record, while Crvena Zvezda is fourth at 1-5. Simonas Serapinas scored 16 of his season-high 22 in the fourth quarter to help Azovmash wrap up the win. Richard Guinn shot 6 for 8 from downtown for 18 points, while Hasan Rizvic added 16 and 7 rebounds, Dijon Thompson netted 14 and Khalid El-Amin produced 8 points and 6 assists. Elmedin Kikanovic led the hosts with 19 points and 8 rebounds, Boris Bakic scored 14 and Tadija Dragicevic had 10 in defeat. Azovmash led for most of the game, but Crvena Zvezda kept it close until midway through the third period.
