Red-hot CSKA Moscow will look to win its fourth straight Euroleague game when it hosts Virtus VidiVici Bologna on Wednesday at Universal Sports Arena in the Russian capital. Before the game, the club will honor former captain Igor Kudelin, who has announced his retirement. CSKA improved to 5-1 and took over first place in Group A last week when it shook off injuries to four key players to win at Tau Ceramica. Now the Russian champs will aim for their 21st straight Euroleague home win, despite the injuries that still linger. The starting frontline that helped CSKA to the 2006 Euroleague crown, Aleksey Savrasenko and Matjaz Smodis remain out, while reigning Euroleague MVP Theo Papaloukas is questionable with an ankle injury. However Ramunas Siskauskas returned to action in domestic action over the weekend. Moreover, David Andersen and Marcus Goree thrived last week in starting roles, while its young reserves at the forward and center spots, Nikita Kurbanov, Anatoly Kashirov, Artem Zabelin and Andrey Vorontsevich, combined for mare than 20 effective minutes off the bench. VidiVici topped Union Olimpija last week snap a four-game losing streak and return to the race for a spot in the Top 16. Meanwhile, Virtus dropped to 2-5 and needs to start winning right away to keep its Top 16 chances alive. Ramunas Siskauskas led the winners with 16 points. David Andersen added 13 points and 8 rebounds, Marcus Goree had 12 points and 9 boards, Trajan Langdon scored 12, Nikos Zisis 11 and J.R. Holden posted 10 points and dished 8 assists for CSKA. Delonte Holland had 20 points for Virtus, but nobody else reached double digits in scoring. MESSINA, ETTORE CSKA Moscow "The win was very important for us. Last week Virtus played a great game versus Olimpija and we had a great match in Vitoria. We started the first quarter very well, but after that, in the second, we lost too many balls. We are used to making just 7 turnovers a game, we lost just 3 in Vitoria, but this time we had 6 in just one quarter. After the break, especially from the 25th to 35th minute we played good basketball: fast and smart. I think in general we played well on defense and with rebounding. We still have problems with our injured players. Savrasenko and Smodis will not be able to help us for rather a long time.
