For the second time in three days, former European junior champion INSEP of France beat Brose Baskets of Germany in the IJT Belgrade Tournament on Sunday morning. INSEP's 77-54 victory gave it fifth place in the competition. Boris Dallo was the standout with 21 points, 4 rebounds and a block. INSEP’s incredible 40-16 advantage in rebounds, with the help of Mam Jaiteh’s 10, helped it win all four quarters on Sunday.
Already having been 50-70 winners in the teams' first meeting on Friday, INSEP went 17-8 up in the first quarter. A pair of three-pointers from Dino Dizdarevic and a Lucas Wagner shot from inside were Brose Baskets only points on the board as their French opponents stormed out of the blocks. It was a 15-point game at the halftime buzzer, with 11 of INSEP's 20 points in the second quarter coming from the free throw line. Alexandre Chassang's three-pointer with 10 seconds left put the finishing touch on a 37-22 halftime lead for INSEP.
Chassang put in his second three-pointer right after halftime, as the game briefly turned into a perimeter shooting contest; Mark Voelkl sent down his long-range effort for Brose Baskets and Dallo responded immediately. INSEP's highest-scoring quarter took it 24 points ahead, 63-39, despite Brose Baskets also upping its offensive output for the third consecutive quarter. Brose Baskets outscored INSEP in the fourth but it was too little, too late and INSEP took the win.
