KK Zagreb stayed undefeated at the Torneo Citta de Roma and improved to 2-0 in Group B by downing CSKA Moscow 72-53 on Tuesday. Zagreb will battle with Montepaschi Siena for first place while CSKA is out of the race to reach the final. Mario Hezonja paced the winners with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Dominik Marva added 22 points while Dario Saric had 10 and 13 boards for Zagreb. Alexander Gudumak led CSKA with 17 points. Artem Kolomov added 12 while Viacheslav Fedorchenko had 10 for CSKA, that were outrebounded by 53-34. Gudumak and Dmitry Utolin shined early to give CSKA a 2-6 lead. A three-pointer by Marva soon gave Zagreb a 7-6 edge, but Fedorchenko and Gudumak stepped up for a 7-11 score. Saric found his first points while Hezonja and Marva struck from downtown for a 16-15 score after 10 minutes. Kolomov and Fedorchenko allowed CSKA to regain the lead, 18-21, early in the second quarter. Saric rescued Zagreb and Hezonja downed his second three-pointer for a 27-26 score. Hezonja and an outstanding Marva - 14 points before the break - gave Zagreb a 37-34 edge at halftime. Hezonja had 10 quick points right after the break and got some help from Saric to boost his team's lead to 50-40. Marva kept spcring good options in offense to make it a 13-point game, 57-44, after 30 minutes. Nothing changed since that moment, as Marva and Hezonja allowed Zagreb to get a 65-50 margin, enough to seal the outcome long before the final buzzer.
