THE TAKE

The Greens will look to extend their home-court winning streak against the German champs. Panathinaikos has won seven consecutive Euroleague home games. Bayern has lost four games in a row since beating Panathinaikos at home 81-75 last month. Bayern, has had to deal with injuries this season, but has added former All-Euroleague guard Bo McCalebb, while promising forward Paul Zisper has returned to action. They complement main weapons John Bryant at center, Dusko Savanovic at forward and Nihad Djedovic on the wings. Panathinaikos has relied on Esteban Batista at center and star playmaker Dimitris Diamantidis to pave the way for Nikos Pappas and Vlantimir Giankovits to do damage on the wings. Loukas Mavrokefalidis has returned to the lineup to further strengthen the Greens inside and could be a difference maker against Bryant and Vladimir Stimac. If Panathinaikos can hold its own inside and Diamantidis can stifle McCalebb, the home team would be the clear favorite to secure the win.

Quotes Head Coaches

IVANOVIC, DUSKO
Panathinaikos Athens
"We will play against a very good team. They are playing the same way at their home and also on the road. They are using their strong defense and they are very good in transition, even now with McCalebb are much better. It is an important game for us and we need the support of our fans."
PESIC, SVETISLAV
FC Bayern Munich
"We will travel to Athens well prepared. We had a few days' rest in which we practiced really focused. We have to play physical in order to be able to compete with Panathinaikos. Once more we are not going there to just participate but to win the game."

Players

BATISTA, ESTEBAN
Panathinaikos Athens
"It is a very important game for us and for our opponents, too. Both need to win! We know them very well, they beat us in Munich and they are a strong team. We respect them and I believe that the 1-5 record they have is not fair for their effort and quality. They are really good, they have the way to play a good game. We must be ready to fight because we are expecting a tough game."
DEDOVIC, NIHAD
FC Bayern Munich
"We did a good job in the first leg against Panathinaikos and got the win. However the situation has changed since then, forcing us to show an even stronger performance."
