EnBW Ludwigsburg registered its first-ever ULEB Cup win by downing Asco Slask Wroclaw 81-70 at home in Group G on Tuesday. Ludwigsburg improved to 1-7 and has no chance to advance to the elimination rounds. Nate Harris led the winners with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Brandon Woudstra and Heiko Schaffartzik each added 15 points while Ronnie Ross had 13 for Ludwigsburg. Dawan Robinson had 17 points for Slask, Jared Homan added 16 while Oliver Stevic got 13 for the guests, whose only lead came at 21-23. Schaffartzik went on fire, nailing 4 three-pointers in a 17-2 run that put Ludwigsburg ahead for good, 38-25. Homan and Kamil Chanas managed to get Slask back in the game, 52-46, but an unstoppable Harris allowed the hosts to boost its margin to 62-50 after 30 minutes. Slask could not rally in the fourth quarter, allowing Ludwigsburg to cruise to a well-deserved win.
Jason Dourisseau and Michel Ferreira got Ludwigsburg going with consecutive layups while Ross added back-to-back baskets for a 8-2 lead. Woudstra stroke from downtown while another put-back basket by Dourisseau gave the hosts a 14-4 margin. Dominik Tomczyk stepped up 5 quick points, igniting a 2-11 run that Stevic capped with consecutive baskets to get Slask within 16-15. Harris found his first points while Woudstra sank a triple for a 21-17 Ludwigsburg edge after 10 minutes. A 0-6 run that Chanas capped with a layup gave Slask its first lead, 21-23. It didn't last long, however, as Schaffartzik buried 4 three-pointers in a 17-2 run that Ross capped with his own shot from downtown, good for a 38-25 Ludwigsburg margin. Free throws brought Slask within 38-31 while Harris and Robinson traded baskets to fix the halftime score at 40-33. Woudstra scored off a steal while Ross added free throws to make the hosts restore a double-digit lead, 44-34. Chanas and Stevic tried to change things for Slask, but foul shots by Harris and another basket by Harris still kept Ludwigsburg ahead, 50-40. Chanas found some help from Homan to get Slask closer at 52-46. Coleman Collins and Harris combined for 4 quick points while three-pointers by Schaffartzik and Harris gave the hosts a 62-50 margin after 30 minutes. Robinson singlehandedly tried to get Slask back in the game, but free throws by Woudstra helped Ludwigsburg to stay way ahead, 68-57. Stefan Fahrad fired in a triple while Ferreira scored inside to seal the outcome, 73-59, with 4 minutes to go. Slask did not recover and all Ludwigsburg fans celebrate their team's first-ever ULEB Cup win!
